Kofi very well may leave for UK. The fact that HD stayed at UM doesn't mean he will. Are the chances much higher? Sure. But we knew that the minute Kofi entered the portal. That had nothing to do with HD. The odds are no worse today than they were then, other than Kofi mentioning UK by name. Again, nothing whatsoever to do with HD returning to UM.Sure it does. People are talking about maximizing NIL value like it's a well established practice, but it's not. There are a few cases similar to Kofi and it makes perfect sense to look at those.
I sure hope the "announcement" wouldn't involve Kofi picking between two school's caps.

Well he would certainly prefer SEC refs if last year's B1G refs are any indication.Any thoughts on Kofi preferring either the B1G or the SEC? Style of play, opponents, etc?
Probably just go with BU is a mean hateful coach that runs his acs and players away....and doesn't call his recruits./sIt certainly may be about more than just the NIL dollars. I don't have any insider information and I don't know Kofi or anyone connected with him. I am just saying that this situation is so new that we really don't have a good sense of what is going to be the new normal, and this early in the process, many people will come to different conclusions until some general trends start to emerge.
Otherwise, if the OA situation is the main factor, I think it might be a half empty vs. half full situation (at least related to the relatively little information we all have available). Maybe he's not interested in coming back without OA. Or perhaps he's just not 100% sold on coming back without OA.
No one really knows but Kofi and his confidants. Even the insiders here are only able to relay what they hear from program insiders, and those opinions will, more often than not, have an orange and blue tint to them.
You lost me at the lottery.Oh, I can totally win this silly game.
Like this post if you hate Iowa and Indiana, love bacon, enjoy vacations on the beach, or the mountains, and you want to win the lottery.
Heh.Probably just go with BU is a mean hateful coach that runs his acs and players away....and doesn't call his recruits./s
You lost me with the last paragraph probably just hope/opinion. I'm good with that.Heh.
In all seriousness, BU has earned, at a minimum, the benefit of the doubt given how he's resurrected our program from the grave. But how we recover from or otherwise power through this trying time where all three ACs leave at once and potentially our two best players to boot will be telling. If we come out of this without any major downturn, he'll be practically deified by some. If we fall on our face, there will be a lot of "I told you so" people coming out of the woodwork.
Either way, get ready for some thoughtful, constructive, measured debate.
My "in all seriousness" got markedly less serious with each subsequent sentence. You lost me with the last paragraph probably just hope/opinion. I'm good with that.
anyone else start humming Sounds of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel opening lyrics?Hello Antiqua, Chin....how ya been.
Based solely on what he's said publicly, I'd be surprised if NIL has much to do with him entering the transfer portal. He would have a tough time improving on his brand elsewhere than here, so I don't see the sense in that driving the decision. NIL probably played at least 90% of the role in convincing him to return to college b-ball, but the possible transfer seems fairly straightforward: his guy, and his position coach, is gone (along with another well-liked assistant) so that adds a lot of uncertainty relative to his past two years here AND he's hearing he needs to develop and show parts of his game that he may not feel confident BU would give him the rope to do at Illinois. Entering the portal gives him some leverage over that second issue, in that he can tell BU "I want the opportunity to do more of X in the offense or else I'm gone," and gives him the possibility of addressing the first issue if he decides that OA is important enough to him that he's worth following to UK.Yeah, I was just wondering about that. This may be 90% about NIL money but I am sure Kofi wants to be hear that the offense will allow him to shoot some jump shots and/or three-pointers.
What if he follows each miss with a dunk a la the Rev?As much as I'd love for Kofi to come back. If it involves him chucking up 3's non stop I'm not so sure about it.

I'd like to know if Cal wants to change his offense to suit Kofi? How would the rest of the team feel about it? I think they would like to win the NCAA Championship, but are they more interested in showcasing their individual talents?
Does Cal even "have an offense" in this sense or does he just put 5 superstars on the floor and have them play basketball in a way that fits their mix of skills from year to year? Honestly, the latter approach would make the most sense given his recruiting strategies.I'd like to know if Cal wants to change his offense to suit Kofi? How would the rest of the team feel about it? Not sure that is much of a threat anymore lol.If it happens the next time the see each other it will be with the NCAA in the room too
