North Carolina threw out a number over a million and to compare, Illinois told Kofi that Ayo would make 400k last year...so it tells you where our staff's playing on this NIL stuff. Zero clue that NIL means fundraising for recruits with companies in the area. Blue bloods have reportedly already lined up companies that are pledging flat money to recruits.
Really stinks because Garcia was a lock for a starting spot and this is his best basketball opportunity. These kids are just going to pick this highest number now.

Not too late for Illinois fans to aid the NIL cause. Kofi still has some $40 autographs on Players Trunk.
The staff better tell Kofi that he's got essentially a blank check at Illinois because I think that's the case. He will be the face of college basketball. I personally think Garcia is being sold on something that won't happen money-wise at UNC.

To be fair, if I were 20 years old and someone offered me a million to play basketball at one of the best basketball schools in America, I wouldn't hesitate.

Pretty sure all this does is allow them to do this over the table and will make it that much harder for the ncaa to punish wrongdoings. How do you prove this persons value at UNC isn’t $1m to send a 10s clip to a very wealthy and loyal diehard fan?

Is a player more valuable playing in the G league, or at a college? Fans love college ball far more, so it seems likely IMO that the money will be there.

If this is true, then there’s no way Kofi stays home. I’m sure the number our staff quoted was honest and in the true spirit of what NLI is supposed to generate for athletes—but that only creates a disadvantage in this sport.
