Who would inspire? Think Randle would be great hire, but not inspirational. Malcolm Hill probably has more bball in him. Giorgi would be good to help reel in one big recruit. Don't think it is Dee, but that is who I think could inspire the fanbase. From AAU and high scool ranks not sure, Irvins come to mind regarding connections.
I know Irvin has connections....but I’d be happy to avoid adding him to the staff. Good news imo

Why couldn’t Randle inspire? At least half the board wanted alumni hired for all the roles. There’s already 2 on staff, what is one more?
It will not be Dee. It will never be Dee. While it could be nice, that ship sailed awhile ago.
Nick is not known as a good coach amongst Illinois HS coaches.

Certainly TA AND CF are home run hires. GA would be consider a good to very good #3 based on all factors…IMO

On the staff you would have a coach that trains players for the NBA and a coach that just came from a top team in the NBA. That's gotta be a real good look for recruiting.
Chet and Anderson seem like really good hires. Geoff promotion seems ok (honestly I do not know enough to have a solid opinion but I cannot wait to see what he can do).

Any word about Deon Thomas being the 4th assistant? I thought he wanted to be more involved in coaching but not constantly away from home recruiting. Seems like that job would be perfect for him if I am remembering that correctly.

All due respect a lot of people on here are dead wrong about Alexander coach Underwood and crew did an outstanding job with the three assistant hiresI think Deon would be a great candidate

It's not a bad thought. I believe he once said that Illinois is the only coaching job he'd be interested in for all the reasons you cite. Maybe a non-recruiting role would be perfect?
