I get the lack of passing and outside shooting skills as a weakness with Kofi at the pro level. However at the college level if you add fg attempts and to’s and divide into points, it is 1.12 points every time you give him the ball. Why would he pass it out when the team is .81. Maybe teams will find a ways to defend him in the future but not much of a problem with most teams now.
A Kentucky insider is now saying he feels confident in Kofi choosing UK. Also, according to Adam Zagoria, FSU is in the mix? Interesting.
Where can this Kentucky insider info be found?
I think he's saying UK fans are too confident? (If so, that would be true as a general statement as well)

Yep it appears I misread it. Further in the mentions, he had said yesterday UK fans were too nervous, now he's saying too confident.

"Data has changed" appears to be how they say "recruiting is fluid" in Kentucky.
I don't know what the 'lockified' reference means - I'd guess that it's similar to "the announcers' curse" but with respect to proclaiming a recruit a lock and then having to change their story or concede that their information was invalid somehow.
I think you've hit the nail on the head. There were only a few teams that could defend him, and even then he was a load. BUT, he's not going to be nearly the mismatch in the NBA that he is in college. A player with one or two tricks almost never gets called in the first round. His strengths are the stuff of legend (PNR, power around the basket, physical rebounder, etc.), but he's got to show he knows when to pass it out, and then do so effectively. There's some irony that he's less marketable for powering through defenses --scouts don't think that will translate against NBA bigs.
To a casual fan, he looks absolutely dominant --he does a lot of things at an elite level (no hyperbole there). But scouts are projecting how he fits the modern game and thinking his weaknesses are limiting. Learning to recognize and anticipate double teams, and adding the passing skill to get the ball to the open man would put him in another category (bet Curbelo could help him). Also needs to improve his mechanics and gain some touch out to the FT line. Those things along with more fluidity from game experience, should move him into a first round pick. Those aren't easy improvements to make though. He's got his work cut out for himself.
