Hope it's not the Knicks because I don't want to root for the Knicks. lol
The draft is just frustrating period. It has been for a while. Who do you draft the All American player or a player who played for the g league team? Which one is going top 5 and which one is a fringe first rounder? I can never forget when the Bulls drafted Marquis Teague. This dude had no skills. He was a national champ by riding AD's coattails. Kentucky won the title and the whole starting lineup declared. Nevertheless I will be front and center on Thursday. Ill be happy if Ayo goes to Denver or the Los Angeles. And while you’re at it, Cam Thomas please? Watched some of his highlights. Not overly quick/explosive. Decent form on jumper but shot like 32% from 3 and 40% overall. Really just looks like a chucker. I don’t see a borderline lottery pick.
Ayo is longer, a much more fluid athlete, and had much better rebound and assist numbers. I get that he’s 2 years older and his shot mechanics aren’t great but no question who I would take.
I guess I can kind of see why AM wanted to take Thomas’ place at LSU. I think Miller’s highlights look better and if going down there and chucking it 25 times a game gets him into the lottery next year, God bless him.
6'9" with a good looking jump shot and can guard nearly every position on the court. He's a Draymond Green type of guy, can do it all, rebound, assist, score but doesn't need the ball in his hands at all times. He's also 2 years younger than Ayo, which is certainly something NBA teams look at.Can someone explain the hype around Franz Wagner? 12PPG with an average of 31.5 minutes per game? Not overly explosive or athletic. 32% 3ptFG%. I dont get it.
I don't see it, he was not a lights out shooter in games I saw. He plays soft. He is a good player if your in a covid bubble and need someone to hang in the corner and shoot 3s.Can someone explain the hype around Franz Wagner? 12PPG with an average of 31.5 minutes per game? This. Most teams draft based on player projection more so than their actual production at the college level. Same reason Pat Williams went fourth overall last year despite never starting for FSU and only averaging like 9ppg. Franz has the ideal measurables for a modern 3&D wing. Fwiw I’m not 100% sold on him, but I can see why he’ll be a lottery pick.6'9" with a good looking jump shot and can guard nearly every position on the court. The humor of them not being able to play together in college and ending up playing for the same NBA team is kind of funny. Statistically it's just so rare.Lakers going to have to dump THT obviously
Grandison held him to 1/9 and 5 rebounds while going 1/2 with 6 rebounds and we consider him a weak position.6'9" with a good looking jump shot and can guard nearly every position on the court. In all fairness, we played them once and their whole team got smacked. You don't draft/not draft someone based on one game, just like you don't base your draft assessment of Ayo off the Loyola game. Teams see a versatile forward who is undeniably an excellent defender (top 6 DBPM in NCAAs), good facilitator, and is still really young (younger than Suggs, one month older than Cade). Everybody wants big wing defenders who also have some useful skills on the offensive end. I can see the attraction but also agree with the earlier poster who said he plays soft (at least on offense). All depends on what the team drafting him is looking for. I could see him being useful as a glue piece, i.e. the 4th or 5th option on the floor that's more focused on D and making other pieces hum. If they're looking for a go-to offensive option, I don't see it.Grandison held him to 1/9 and 5 rebounds while going 1/2 with 6 rebounds and we consider him a weak position.
SI hasn’t been relevant in more than a decade. Guys fromThe Athletic are more dialed in.NBA Draft Big Board 5.0: Final Top 80 Prospect Rankings

I mean go figure. What would a swimsuit publication know about sports?!SI hasn’t been relevant in more than a decade. Guys fromThe Athletic are more dialed in.

Agreed on all counts, perfect fit there along with the Lakers, Lebron isn't going to wait for project player. Ayo is as game ready as they come in this draft, high floor, lowish ceiling (he'll certainly work his butt off to raise it). Exactly the type of player Lebron and AD will try and convince Lakers Exec's to take to make them better right now.I could see the knicks for sure. Thibs is a no nonsense all about working his butt off grinder.

He's overrated, plain and simple. I watched several Iowa games this past year. While he is a good ball player, appears to be all hype.In all fairness, we played them once and their whole team got smacked. If you were scouting Franz Wagner while watching Iowa games, I understand why. He barley played in any of those games! He's overrated, plain and simple. I watched several Iowa games this past year. While he is a good ball player, appears to be all hype.
Your right, I put him on the wrong team. I did see several Michigan games too, BTN. I just never saw what all the buzz was about. If you were scouting Franz Wagner while watching Iowa games, I understand why. He barley played in any of those games!
Sorry bud your credibility just took a major hit.Your right, I put him on the wrong team. I did see several Michigan games too, BTN. I just never saw what all the buzz was about.
Hi, Hans! Say hi to Franz for us!Sorry bud your credibility just took a major hit.
Guess you didn’t see the back to back 21 point games against Iowa and Indiana. Or the 19/6 against Michigan St. Or the 20/7/3 against Rutgers. Or the 13/10/5 against FSU in the Elite 8.
Look, NBA scouts have legitimately watched every second of game tape this kid has...not just the 3 “Iowa” games you watched on BTN. Franz has length, versatility, incredible defensive prowess, is a good passer, has high basketball IQ, has prospect and family pedigree and a good stroke. His 3pt percentage isn’t great but he shot 87% from the free throw line which many NBA teams will see as an indicator he’ll be good from 3. I think NBA teams will see him as a stretch 4 who can guard multiple positions on switches and be an multi faceted contributor on offense. Those things are important when building a team, even if he doesn’t necessarily become a superstar. Thus, the Golden St speculation...
If the NBA was about drafting the best players at that moment in time, Ayo and Luka Garza would be top 5 picks. But its not. The NBA game is completely different and scouts and teams have to think in those terms.
