Looks like a date is set in place now. Relation to how we stand with Schutt? Personally hope they push hard for this kid
Could also be related to where we stand with Whitmore, who I believe is visiting UNC this weekend. Film looks good. Wouldn’t be upset at all if we wound up with him. If we keep bringing in 6’4-6’6 athletes, I trust the staff to develop them.

Yeah, I don't see it as much regarding Whitmore as the staff would take any combo of Whitmore + Schutt/Oweh. No chance they could take all 3 so I think it's more of a Schutt backup (although a very good backup plan.) I would go into it trying to lock him down, looks like a recruitment we could quickly shoot towards the top of if we pushed enough on his OV and based on the Schutt vibes I don't think it's realistic to expect he will end up here, might not even take an OV depending on how his Duke visit goes

Surprised no one has commented on this. This is the son of former Morton and Iowa standout JR Koch. Iowa has already offered. Won't pretend to know if he'll be tough to pull from Iowa or if Central Illinois roots will help us, but he's definitely an intriguing player to watch and has good genes.

Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea.

I don't recall having a particular hatred for the guy, so I guess I can take his son.

No Jess Settles, Jr. though.

Nope, more of where we stand with Schutt. We are sitting pretty with Whitmore, we are his last visit.

Watch some videos of him, you'll love his game. I'm sure Iowa will be tough to beat, he's been going up there since he was little. But our staff momentum is peaking right now so who knows. Plus the kid is young, class of '24, so time will tell.

I would be curious the actual stats behind commitments compared to last scheduled visit. Wonder if there is actually a correlation or only a perceived one based on prospects cancelling future visits after committing right after a visit. Not doubting you, just curious

As has been said, sure feels nice to have a decommitment and not have a single worry cross the mind. Wish nothing but the best for Reggie but I'm glad this is out of the way for both parties' sake. We can stop dancing around him being committed but 'not coming here' and he can work to find a better fit for him. Hope he can address the concerns we've heard about here b/c he has a lot of talent on the court. Now, if he decides Indiana (or Iowa, UM, OSU, etc etc) is the place for him (and they actually want him)...then I take all that back 😅
