Just look who he plays for in the summer. Got some smoothing over to do with them.
Whats the drama with with Wolves? As a side question- after this offseason (Miller leaving, talks of hiring Irvin on staff- whats the relationship between us and the Fire now?

My understanding was Chin did not help that situation. Someone else may know more.

I get it that the Wolves felt looked over with the OA and CC regime but honestly how many times did Groce and Weber take Wolves kids that didn't live up to the expectations. This is part of why it is nice that Underwood has emphasized recruiting nationally with both sets of assistants. UofI doesn't owe any Illinois AAU program anything. It is nice to have in state athletes but they don't need to be beholden to any programs to take certain players.

The guy who runs the wolves likes to be stroked. Hiring Chin(fire) and now Anderson(meanstreets) is a convenient excuse to be pissed off.

With Duke, I get the draw, but in some ways I really don't. They are too much the "evil empire" for my liking. But, not to the level of Iowa or Michigan.
I would never send my kid to Duke or Kentucky. I watched the Summer League game last week and saw DJ Steward playing. He went to Duke and was one and done. He played ok. Didn't dominate by any stretch of the imagination. It was his decision to jump to the league but who is advising these kids? Every year some guys get over recruited at those blue bloods. There is nothing wrong with competition but its nuts.

The Chicago AAU scene is so toxic

Luckily, we are about to have a year where we are likely in the top 10 for the majority of the year with 0 Chicago kids in our rotation. Maybe they will realize we don’t need to rely on them and start softening up…

We should be over recruiting every single player on our team every single year. That's how you win.

If we are going up against the likes of UNC, Gonzaga and Duke for recruits we are probably going to lose most of those, just like every other team (even Duke loses a good % of their targets to UK, some program that hires some brother as an assistant, G League, etc.). But I appreciate the ambition and we’ve already beaten out KU for a player this cycle.

Oweh looks to have good tools and potential and would gladly take him if we can’t get Schutt.

I still think Cohren should be he biggest priority as our front court is pretty thin after this year, followed closely by Whitmore due to his talent/ceiling. Those 2 plus what we already have in tow is a monster class. Anyone else like Oweh is gravy.

I'd rather go up against them and usually lose than give up and not recruit the types of players it takes to win big. The key for the staff is to know when they have a legitimate shot and when to cut bait and move on. Groce was terrible at that.
