I'm more confused as to why a Week 0 game is being played at noon instead of night like it has in the past. Ah well, we'll take the national exposure.
This game was originally supposed to have been in Ireland. Then COVID. I don't know if that has anything to do with the start time or not, but I'm just happy to be watching football.

😞 We’re supposed to be in Ireland today. We had paid our money to Anthony Travel and had our plane tickets booked. Oh, well. I guess Champaign will have to do, just as long as the Illini beat Nebraska. I-L-L

Bloody mary to start, then bud or busch light
They allow beer in the press box? Cool... ;)

ps- Budlight, have to keep it light to make it through the Illini and Bears games. I can't drink like I used to in college.

When y’all start pregaming and what’s the bevvy of choice
Friends from Iowa visiting Chicago this weekend. Heading to our apartment rooftop pool at 10:45 am to get a spot, and I’m going to have the game on in the adjacent indoor amenities area, spending commercial breaks outside, looking at the lake the whole time. Probably one mimosa to start and then some Hazy IPAs I’ve had in the fridge for this.

Yeah, I’ve been looking forward to this Saturday. :) GO ILLINI!

Some information for out of towners. If you are planning a meal at the Ribeye, do it this weekend. They'll be closing their business on Sept. 4. Also be aware that there is an enormous car rally taking place at the Assembly Hall with up to 5000 muscle cars on display today (Friday). They will occupy all Assembly Hall parking lots but are scheduled to be out in time for football parking tomorrow (don't arrive early). Expect many hotel rooms to be taken by those folks.

That sounds like a great setup. The view and the pool kinda make the standard mancave sound a little lacking in comparison. Enjoy!

For those coming in from the south. Windsor Road from Neil Street to Fourth Street is under construction. One lane each way. Don't know if they will have it cleaned up for game day, but be advised.
FYI, as of about an hour ago, the barricades have all been taken down and Windsor is back to two lanes in both directions between Neil and Fourth.

Damn I was thinking Floor 4 with the Ceiling being 7 and was feeling like an optimist. What are you drinking? I want some.

I only see two near-certain wins (UTSA and Charlotte), one should-win (Rutgers), four should-be-competitive games (Nebraska, Virginia, Maryland, Purdue), two should-lose (Minnesota and Northwestern), and three near-certain losses (Wisconsin, Penn State, and Iowa).

Assuming we take the near- and should-wins, 3/4 of the competitive games, and steal a should-lose, the ceiling is 7. Assuming we lose the should-win and can't take more than two of the competitive/should-lose/near-certain losses, the floor is 4.

So that's my call. Floor of 4, ceiling of 7, and I think 5 is most likely, which will be a real bummer to miss a bowl by one game. But 6 seems...realistically within reach if a proven B1G coach can get the mojo flowing.

In any case, a win against Nebraska would set a great tone. If they're legitimately good enough to beat Nebraska, you could imagine a world where the Illini start 5-1. If they get blown out by Nebraska, you could imagine a world where they start 2-6 without an easy game left on the schedule.

I'm 2 parts excited, 1 part nervous as hell about tomorrow's game, but can't wait!

I can handle that analysis. I think we could realistically hit 6 and go bowling to build some momentum.

Hearing about the move of IW making the difference with our offense makes me think we may finally have a coaching staff that knows how to put players in positions to succeed. I’ve got a different kind of optimism than I had for the last couple of coaching changes. That may disappear if we’re down 20 at halftime tomorrow, but I don’t think so…

A real college football coaching staff +
senior experience +
massive pressure on golden boy Frost =
