I don't have the basic plan. It's the 125+ channel plan (although that's might be basic to some, but with Netflix, Prime, Apple TV and Disney+, no one can complain here). You have to talk to retention to get a good deal. I was all ready to leave, had my Roku devices in place, and the retention guy came in with some money saving suggestions. I discussed it in the How to Watch the Illini thread in the basketball forum.
I tried that with Spectrum here in FL, they seemed happy to let me go. Still kept them for internet and went with YTTV. Eventually, cable is going to bleed away all their video subs and just make up the difference on internet. Internet is higher margin for them anyway (don't need to pay for content). Unless wireless internet becomes a real thing, the model works well for them.
So now i'm ~$120/mo combined. Not much cheaper than what I had before after YTTV has been jacking up prices the past few years. But the YTTV interface is miles ahead of Spectrum's clunky cablebox, and - more importantly - the unlimited DVR is pretty nice. I basically record every show that I would ever want to watch and then dropped netflix and all other bespoke streaming platforms. You don't get the originals (the few originals I watch i've found "ways"), but everything else (e.g. the Office, lots of movies, etc.), and it's essentially like Netflix. You can theoretically record everything on TV.
