I don't have the basic plan. It's the 125+ channel plan (although that's might be basic to some, but with Netflix, Prime, Apple TV and Disney+, no one can complain here). You have to talk to retention to get a good deal. I was all ready to leave, had my Roku devices in place, and the retention guy came in with some money saving suggestions. I discussed it in the How to Watch the Illini thread in the basketball forum.

I tried that with Spectrum here in FL, they seemed happy to let me go. Still kept them for internet and went with YTTV. Eventually, cable is going to bleed away all their video subs and just make up the difference on internet. Internet is higher margin for them anyway (don't need to pay for content). Unless wireless internet becomes a real thing, the model works well for them.

So now i'm ~$120/mo combined. Not much cheaper than what I had before after YTTV has been jacking up prices the past few years. But the YTTV interface is miles ahead of Spectrum's clunky cablebox, and - more importantly - the unlimited DVR is pretty nice. I basically record every show that I would ever want to watch and then dropped netflix and all other bespoke streaming platforms. You don't get the originals (the few originals I watch i've found "ways"), but everything else (e.g. the Office, lots of movies, etc.), and it's essentially like Netflix. You can theoretically record everything on TV.

I gotta say, we were already paying with Hulu with no ads anyway (for numerous reasons), and adding on Hulu TV for a relatively small price increase has been very worth it for us. Huge downfall is no Marquee for Cubs games, but I’ve never missed out on an Illini game due to them not having the channel.

(Parents' AT&T Uverse login works wonders for getting access to Marquee Sports Network!) ;)

The major beef i have with Hulu + live is the dramatic rise of prices in the 3 + years I have had it.....

I started out at $ 40 monthly plus $ 5 for the no ads benefit 3 yrs ago.......Now it's over $ 85 monthly.........I get all the channels I want , but 100 % increase in less than 4 years is steep.....JMHO

Hard to believe something owned by Comcast and Disney would actually raise their prices.

What amazes me is what Notre Dame is doing. They must be receiving a pile o' dough for taking their game off free NBC, seeing as how they have a nationwide alumni base. This helps NBC's streaming marketing effort but could backfire with their fans. Even when you channel surf when CFB games are on, odds are you land on Notre Dame and stay there.

With reference to Northwestern's uniforms, I consider the deep purple/black outfits for their first game absolutely hideous.

I don't know if it was already mentioned, but the VIDGO live streaming app has the ACC Network along with BTN, etc.... It's less expensive than Hulu live FWIW.

so seriously , our game is not going to be anywhere on the normal spectrum of Fox, ESPN nor B1GNetwork?

its on the ACC Network , which no one really carries around Chicago area,
but we can get it on Hulu if we have that (I dont)
or can we stream it on the internet ?
This may have already been mentioned, but sign up for a free trial of YouTube TV. ACC Network is part of their standard plan.

Edit: And now that I have caught up, I see it has already been mentioned several times. Carry on.

Slightly optimistic heading into the game later this morning. We have a lot to be angry about, lost last week, playing in a game on ACCN at the earliest kick time since freshmen year of high school for a lot of these guys.

At a minimum, we cover but it will come down to establishing some sort of run game. Art needs the threat of a run game to use more play action and get him moving around (same can be said for BP, too).

It doesn't make sense to pound the ball on the ground if VA comes out in an 8 man defensive front like UTSA did last week. If we do that, we will have the same results as last week.

I had a dream, or maybe technically a premonition because I think I was awake at the time, around 3am this morning. That the Illini had 17 points in the 3rd quarter and that was good enough to be leading at the time (by how much, the premonition did not reveal). Take that FWIW. But I suspect my subconscious is engaged in a little wishful thinking. After last week and learning more about this UVA team, I don't feel good at all about this game. Thinking something like ILL 17 UVA 34.

Fortunately, I'll be spending most of the day in Annapolis for the Air Force/Navy game. Rooting for the best service in the country (Air Force, obviously) but don't have the same emotional stake in the game as I do for the Illini. Mostly just looking forward to the pageantry of it all. I've never been to a service academy game.

For those discussing YouTube viewing options, do you know whether it will be available to stream after the game, like later this evening or tomorrow?

Thanks!

People have been talking about YouTube TV, which you can get a free trial for a week (I think) and record it, not YouTube.

You can also get a free trial with Hulu + TV for a week and record it.

Enjoy the pageantry and I hope it's a good game!

Just noticed that Direct TV Stream has added BTN overflow channels. Getting ready for the conference season to get into full swing.
