Don't mean to sound like a Koolaid drinker. But their 2nd touchdown was after 2 contested passes, where our DBs need to find the ball and knock it down. We seem to have cleaned up the blown coverages on the back end. And playing stoutly against the run. Who knows? I actually thought RU was going to play OSU tight today.
As far as the blown coverages, can my football minded people tell me what we’ve cleaned up? Vs Maryland I was in good position to see we dropped 8 a lot more; a lot of 5 guys around the sticks with 3 deep over the top. Is that what we’re living off still or is there more?

I have a feeling that BB might be using Peters as a sacrifice lamb honestly. I think Art has the chance to develop and BB and TP see that, but also know he was rushed in to action and that caused Art to develop bad habits at Rutgers and they started to reappear when he was forced in to action here. BB wants to win, but know this year was going to be a shot show regardless, so he is giving BP the reins knowing that he is struggling to let Art develop to give him the best chance to fix his issues and lead the team next year since our other QBs need even more seasoning. This allows BB to step up and show improvement while not ruining QBs that could actually help us in the future vs what BB knew from the start would be a lost season/bridge year.

Honestly, I don't believe that for the reasons above. BP is the sin eater for this year. Art may not be worse, but he isn't better either. Let Art fix his issues and gain confidence not in the crucible so he can be better next year instead of BP level for 2 years.

This has been his case since Michigan. He hasn't developed past HS where his first read is the only read and him getting consistently hot for 2 years has made it worse. He is out there without awareness, he is running the plays but we are making him do it so that other guys aren't forced to develop bad habits like he has.
So they based the strategy for the whole season on developing Art Sitkowski?

Bucky has problems. If we can pass (first downs), we can win. Have little faith in Peters. If he struggles again, he should get the quick hook.

While I'm very happy with our success running the ball yesterday, I'm afraid a little perspective may be in order. Here are the rushing yards allowed per game:

Charlotte: 255.4
Wisconsin: 46.8

We're gonna have to throw the ball to have a chance in this game.

I'm shocked. Roughly the same as MD (home) and Purdue (away).

How the mighty have fallen. Weren't we just 30 point "dogs" to WISC at home two years ago?
This is a bad Wisconsin offense and, famous last words, a less blowout-prone Illini team.

I think that's about right for the line, but I confess I like Wisconsin.

Brandon Peters could not be trusted to complete a play action pass when he had a running game piling up 250+ yards with 10 in the box on the defense.

Either the guys below him are worse ( doubtful ) or BP does well in the protected cocoon of practice, only to regress under the pressure of games.

The OC has some blame here too.

This line will be interesting. Wisky was somehow favored today, which was totally insane. They should have been a touchdown underdog to Michigan.

This should probably be single digits, but has Vegas learned its lesson?
The Over/Under is what has be curious. I like the under no matter what it is.

I’m not sure where to put this, but Belechik just punted on 4th and 2 in TB territory. He must not be reading this forum.
For some reason I can see Belichik arguing with random fans on a Patriots forum about his play calling with very long-winded and precise responses with related all-22 footage. He can't stand it when his genius is questioned. Username is probably BillMadeTom.

Still the best coach ever.

Completely different circumstances and it still came back to bite him.

Wisconsin is currently 4th in the nation at opponent 3rd down conversion percentage, allowing around 27% conversions. If we do that thing we do where we run ourselves to a 3 and 7 after 1st and 2nd down, we will be in significantly more trouble than we normally are.

Here’s to hoping that play action on first down last game was a tune up for this one.

Edging a bit toward WISC --- now at -8.5. Over/under stands at 42.5, so not much respect for these two offenses (#13 & #14 in Big Ten).

Vegas is definitely going to drive/influence my prediction this week. I think they've got it right.

Spot on!

We must have set a record vs. CLT for putting ourselves in 3rd and 7 situations. (And that was against a defense that gave up 334 rushing yards.)

Please mix it up Tony!

Yeah, we must have broken some record for number of 3rd and 7's.

I'm not feeling too good about this game. I'm thinking it'll be a game that provides an opportunity for Wisconsin to "fix" many of their ills at our expense.
