I’m glad I’m not the only one, every time I’ve seen a Epps video I think Frank Mason.
Some might not remember this player....it's been a few years back....he reminds of a player we wanted bad.....Jalen Brunson! He had a fairly decent career....he's having a good game against the Bulls as I post. Could Epps compare to him?The following is the scouting report published on Epps by Jerry Meyer of 247. The last two sentences certainly trend that he can project as a solid rebounder and defender.
A physically well built combo guard at 6-2. Has a quick burst with strength giving him explosiveness in tight spaces. A polished three-level scorer with an old school efficient pull up game in the midrange. Long range shot must be respected. Strong driver especially going right. Loves to finish at rim with a one hand scoop lay up. Capable distributer as well. Strong and composed with the basketball. Rebounds his position well. Has quality lateral quickness and the ability to defend the one through the three.

I'm probably going to feel stupid once I know the answer, but who are you referring to? I am blanking on this reference.Hope he's half as good as our Illini legacy from Canton OH.
Nick Weatherspoon - before my time too but the Google machines w/ the assistI'm probably going to feel stupid once I know the answer, but who are you referring to? I am blanking on this reference.
Spoon was one hell of a player....................Nick Weatherspoon - before my time too but the Google machines w/ the assist

@pruman91 my man, I’m going to speculate that you and Mr. Witherspoon both had very successful runs in the 70s. Perhaps for different reasons…Spoon was one hell of a player....................
Total stud. Would have been a 5* under today's rating system. Was Nick Connor from Canton as well? Harv landed some serious talent early in his tenure hereSpoon was one hell of a player....................
I've heard he likes soda, and that his teacher's car is greenIndy or 0440 or Lville anything on Ty Rodgers or has that ship sailed? Feel like he would be icing on this recruiting year.
I get your point, but TyTy's Cayenne is almost guaranteed to be a lease. Even with insurance, the cost is less than $2k/mo. Not poo pooing it, but a far cry actually owning it (~$130k).
Until we know what the players are getting in the aggregate (which we'll probably never know), an apples to apples comparison will be impossible. Yeah, Whitman and company will know. And I'm confident that he's trying to weaponize it for us.
So, how big is Johnson? I've seen everything from 6'7" to 6'9" and 200 to 220 pounds.this sounds pretty good:
True dat. RIP. Not sure about the legacy part, though.Spoon was one hell of a player.............
He was a giant. Harv snatched him out of Canton from under Fred Taylor at Ohio State. Huge coup. Recruiting losses like that were the major reason why OSU declined so steeply from '73-'75 and Taylor, who had taken the Bucks to three consecutive national title games in the early '60s, retired in perfect health at age 51 in 1976.Spoon was one hell of a player....................
Connor (RIP) was from Columbus East. He played on a memorable high school championship team there with Bo Lamar and Ed Ratliff, both of whom OSU's Taylor didn't recruit because they didn't meet academic requirements. Ratiff starred at Long Beach State and Lamar and SW Louisiana, IIRC. There's a good book about that East H.S. team, and the baseball team that won the state championship the same year, called Tigerland, published a couple years ago. People much older than me still rate that '69 East team as the best Ohio H.S. team of all time. Coincidentally, they beat Canton McKinley and Nick Weatherspoon in the finals.Total stud. Would have been a 5* under today's rating system. Was Nick Connor from Canton as well? Harv landed some serious talent early in his tenure here
Well Taco , we both SCORED a lot in the 70's , if that's what your alluding to......@pruman91 my man, I’m going to speculate that you and Mr. Witherspoon both had very successful runs in the 70s. Perhaps for different reasons…
Loyalty!Well Taco , we both SCORED a lot in the 70's , if that's what your alluding to......
In all seriousness , Spoon was deadly getting the ball in the middle of the paint from free throw line on in .....loved to see him jump and he played all out all the time...............
Luke Witte was involved in one of the biggest brawls in BIG TEN history. The Golden Gophers led by baseball HOF Dave Winfield and Illinois native Jim Brewer were the main culprits in a very ugly scene. Witte took a vicious knee to the groin, and all you know what broke out.Spoon (12) and Connor (45) defending against OSU's Luke Witte in 1971 (yeah, I've got time on my hands this afternoon.) Dudes were sophomores playing in their first season and combined for 26 points:
