He seems willing to mix it up under the basket. Good sign.10 boards off the bench for BBV. This roster could be 10 deep.

Podz can no longer redshirt unless he gets hurt. This game actually solidified the 9-man rotation for me, with lots of offense coming off the bench:
G - Frazier
G - Curbelo
F - DaMonte
F - Grandison
C - Kofi
Bench - Hawkins (lots of growth between FR and SO seasons!)
Bench - Hutcherson (can we ever get him healthy!)
Bench - Payne (behind Kofi at the 5, exclusively)
Bench - Plummer (trusted; played 36 min on Tuesday; sharp shooter; smooth and under control)
Fighting to get into the rotation, and ready to play when injuries hit:
* BBV (showed lots of promise and lots of upside)
* Goode - very solid FR; can hit some shots for us
* Melendez - very nice spring in his legs; I really like this guy; will play lots of minutes over his Illini career
Struggling to see the floor this year:
* Podz (red shirt?)
* Lieb (hope he keeps developing; lots of minutes available in 2022-23 and beyond!)
We going all in on the analyzing of this...Did anybody else notice that right before the inbound play at the end of the first half (the 2nd one - after the review), Podz took his sweat towel and tossed it in the face of Goode. At first I thought he was goofing (which he may have been), but I rewound it 3 times and Goode was not amused.
They may have a little rivalry brewing...not that there's anything wrong with that.
I thought there was a bigger percentage of games he could play in before he lost redshirt eligibility.Podz can no longer redshirt unless he gets hurt.
Never a guarantee.
Nebraska was either 67, 70 or 81 (they are now 90 so not sure) preseason Kenpom and lost to (now) 221 Western Illinois at home.
I’m guessing Western Illinois wasn’t 221 preseason so it’s a similar matchup.
Again, nothing is ever guaranteed.
Me too.....thought it was 8-9 games , but I am old and confused at times....................I thought there was a bigger percentage of games he could play in before he lost redshirt eligibility.
True, was not sure if Hutch would start or not (50/50 chance was my thinking). Thus, Trent, Kofi, Hutch (50% chance) = 2.5 = 50%. Just sayin'.........Technically, it's impossible to miss half our starters. Just sayin'.............
Football - yes. Basketball - no.I thought there was a bigger percentage of games he could play in before he lost redshirt eligibility.
I watched and agree with your post. They're not terrible.Did anyone watch the Ioway game after our? They aren't terrible as I had hoped they would be. In fact, the two Murray kids looked really good.
they still don't play defense.I watched and agree with your post. They're not terrible.
For college basketball, any time on the court during a regular season game counts as a season of eligibility. They are looking at changing this rule for the 2022 season. The new proposal allows players to participate in 6-8 games and still redshirt. The exact count is still under debate.I thought there was a bigger percentage of games he could play in before he lost redshirt eligibility.
He also might be thinking of the medical red shirt which is eliminated once you play 20% I think. For college basketball, any time on the court during a regular season game counts as a season of eligibility. Thanks, still surprised that it goes away after one game. But I'm glad to hear that it's being reviewed. For college basketball, any time on the court during a regular season game counts as a season of eligibility. This might very well be what I'm thinking of.He also might be thinking of the medical red shirt which is eliminated once you play 20% I think.
I think there's almost no chance of nonmedical red shirts under the new rules.
Ahh, the redshirt discussion. Welcome back old friend. Which scholarship players should pay their own way scheduled to arrive any day now!I thought there was a bigger percentage of games he could play in before he lost redshirt eligibility.
Well, if Luther Head starts his own company, can’t he legally pay walk-on players’ tuition through NIL?Ahh, the redshirt discussion. Welcome back old friend. Which scholarship players should pay their own way scheduled to arrive any day now!
Well-explained! I stand corrected.True, was not sure if Hutch would start or not (50/50 chance was my thinking). Thus, Trent, Kofi, Hutch (50% chance) = 2.5 = 50%. Just sayin'.........
Ruled out with just 1 game under his belt, huh? Was not aware. (Thanks MP.)Podz can no longer redshirt unless he gets hurt.
I'd still like to add a big man of some type --- a 5-star mega scorer --- to replace Kofi's offensive production. That lineup we had could be what our team looks like next year. If we add Epps, harris and hopefully Rodgers to that group we'll be in good shape
That would be nice. What team doesn't want to add such a player?I'd still like to add a big man of some type --- a 5-star mega scorer --- to replace Kofi's offensive production.

That said, our biggest needs by far were two guards able to contribute right away. And that's what we got. Anyone else is icing on the cake.
Agreed. I like the two new '22 guards and also the shooting potential from the wing with this year's three FR.That would be nice. What team doesn't want to add such a player?
