Illini Golfers in the Pros

anybody know when Hardy is sitting out a few of the early season tournaments? It is certainly his prerogative to do so but the early season is traditionally a time where tour rookies grind away because of slightly weaker fields and they know that all it takes is one good day and they can sew up their card. Lingering injury? Not seen peep on social media as to why. missed a cut last time out, but only by a stroke and played well on day 2 to nearly make it. Hope all is well and this is just part of his plan.

No idea if there is an injury or something. I do know that just getting your card does not mean you are eligible to play in every event unless you finish first in the Korn Ferry regular season or their Tour finals. There is a priority ranking for entry into tournaments and Nick is pretty far down that list.

I think the season begins at the Hawaii venues where he will have full access to all regular season tourneys excluding majors and invitationals. I believe Hardy will have his official season started then.

The season has already begun, it changed to the late fall tournaments as the start of the season a few years ago. The fortinet was the start of the season.

This is true but Nick is full exempt and these tournaments are not limited fields, but this may be having some effect.

In my boredom I looked up the Houston Open field and the priority list for the Korn Ferry qualifiers and no one below Nick Hardy on that list is in the field either so pretty sure the field filled before it got to him. Peter Uihlein did get in but in a sponsors exemption. He is listed in the field for the RSM next week.

Could be it, Guess I never realized how much the pecking order of the Korn Ferry affects the tourney availability of the players. Got take his chances when he gets them. Can't be missing cuts.

Hardy makes the cut on the number. After missing it by a stroke in his last time out I feared as the round was coming to an end he was going to just miss out on the weekend again but birdie on 17 sent him through. Not just solid golf on the weekend and see where he can finish, top 20 would be great.

Bad day for Nick today. +6. Looks like he didn't have control of his ball today.

Its a new and it is time for a restart on the illini in the pros.

Nick Hardy is easy to follow when he is in competition on the tour, but where are our other guys landing this year?

langley retired
Guthrie finished 147 on the Korn ferry not sure where that puts his status
Campbell I believe retained his Korn Ferry card but did not play last week
Lipparelli missed 21 of 23 cuts and finished with a 1715 OWGR last year
Meyer?

Anybody got any updates on where these guys are landing?

also not sure where Feagles status is, he was in the first Korn Ferry event and struggled pretty hard.

He qualified for the Korn Ferry and yes, he struggled in his first outing. But its only one tourney, lets see how he rebounds at the next event.

In case anyone here hasn't heard about Stricker's health scare.

Nick is sitting on the cut line at -5 with one hole left. He is tied for 70th place at the moment. A birdie on his 18th hole will give him breathing room.

It's a 54 hole cut tournament. Guessing he'll need to get to at least 7 or 8 under to make the cut...unless high winds tomorrow cause higher scores.
Hey...at least he's 12 shots in front of Phil Mickelson!

Great steady performance by Pieters.

Calmest I've seen him. Followed him at the PGA(Baltusrol) a few years back and we a volcano of anger. It was painful to watch. Seems so much more in control this weekend.
