Any of our resident insiders able to characterize this staff’s strategy and messaging relative to last year? What’s the same given the BU continuity? What’s different?

Watch BUs presser today. He hits on it. They’ve had success. They have proof now that what the dream they WERE selling to previous years recruits have turned into reality. So they are selling results now instead of a dream.

All three #1 in their state per 247. Rodgers was #1 when he was in Michigan too

Also video with Rodgers comments on his commitment. He notes "player development" "trust in coaching staff" "going to get me to the next level" in his decision

I love how Rodgers is an in-state recruit to those that want to feel good about getting players to stay in state and an out-of-state recruit for those that want to feel like we pulled a fast one on MSU/Michigan. Best of both worlds!!
If Boswell becomes an out of state recruit, I quit!

That is quite something. Brad will be around a long time if he continues to land quality recruits like these young men. Obviously, Chester and Tim played huge roles also. Now, if he can just figure out how to make in game adjustments and when to call timeout.

Quick review….
UI loses to MU Monday at 8 pm.
Illini Nation melts and BU can’t coach, Belo sucks, the team sucks, and Illinois will be lucky to be a tourney team…..
Wednesday at noon (40 hours later) one of the best HS hoopsters in the country commits to UI.
Apparently Ty believes BU CAN coach, Belo and the others that CAN play he WANTS to play WITH them, and also knows the trajectory of player development to make it to the next level, accompanied by the future looking bright for Illini basketball….

For all of the Belo, BU, and team bashers of the past two days…..please do not celebrate this signing.
Please go away with your all of a sudden “in Brad we trust” non-sense……nothing worse than a flip flopper.
Please grow up and realize you’re a college basketball fan because you weren’t good enough to be a player or a coach at this level. Period…..the players and coaches know far, far, far more about this game than any of us.
To my brethren that took the high road over the past 48 hours like FrankNitty and many others (myself included)
HELL YEAH !!!!!!!
IN BRAD WE TRUST !!!!!
I L L …….

All I will say is this: The 23 recruiting class could be one of the best one in Illinois history if not the best....

It takes a Vision. Most of this ongoing Illini success is and will be directly because of the initial vision years ago of two men... Josh (for making an 'elite' coaching hire)... and The Coach.

And what did Coach say when he came to the Illini? Here's a reminder (here's that Vision thing)...

"Coaching basketball at the University of Illinois is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity... during my time at Western Illinois, I always saw the Illinois coaching job as one of the truly best in the nation. I want to thank Josh Whitman for the opportunity to join the Fighting Illini family and look forward to working with him to build a championship program."

Thank you both for leading our Beloved back to the upper levels of the game we all love and that Illini fans deserve. Thanks for having both the vision and the execution of manifesting that Vision.
