Illinois 72, Kansas State 64 Postgame

The sloppiness with the rock is the only thing that kept KSU in this - we dominated every other stat.
But boy, we really turned the ball over for a stretch there. 18 to 3 is... Wow.
I would much rather not see DMFW playing point anymore. Hopefully everybody gets some bed rest back in Champaign and we're at full strength by next week.

Honestly IMO, it was similar to the last couple games except Plummer hit shots. Kofi & Plummer were good, but the rest of the team seemed lost & didn't want the shot. We have good shooters, if the shot is open hit it. Defense was OK at best, but not the intensity and discipline of last year. Trent's injury is very concerning, he is one of our best clutch players.
Agree on Trent...could be huge loss.

Worried it looked like a knee:(

Shooting well cures alot of pain/ills. I saw a great kickout from Kofi and great baseline drive from Hutch while Kofi was at high post....more of that please!

Coach didn't specify on Trents injury but he did say post game Podz will be getting some tic in the near future. Coach says he has been looking better in practice there at the point. Tell him to be ready dad Podz, illini nation is ready to cheer him on.

Without specifying, I feel like by him mentioning Podz, he gave a pretty good hint that we could/will be without Trent's services for a while.

Played like a team tonight. Curbelo got the ball to the open man, Kofi too. Still have to cut down the turnovers and play better defense. Hope the good 3 point shooting continues.

KS St had only 3 turnovers and 11 steals, yet we smoked them in rebounds along with field goal pct and 3-pt pct. Podz next man up, looking forward to it after Trent rolled what appeared to be his ankle, hope he's ok.

Have to get healthy; big stretch coming up. Kofi’s game looks much improved. To miss three games and come in against decent competition and average 20 and 10 on excellent shooting is amazing.

Really hope Curbelo doesn’t battle concussion symptoms long term.

Guys like Ayo cast a long shadow. Illinois has to find it’s identity. It won’t happen overnight.
Was thinking the same thing after the late-game mistakes/collapse/hero ball in the Marquette game, and yesterday's disaster. Note, I turned the Cinncy game off when we went down 30-29 in the first period. My gut told me to, and I am glad I listened when I checked the score later that night.

My fear watching this team post the first two games is we have no true "leader/voice" holding people accountable and calling people out like we had last year with Ayo. Trent and Damonte I was hoping would be those voices, but not seen it so far.

I think this team REALLY was feeling themselves going into this season with all the buzz/pre-season hype, Kofi coming back, etc. I think as a collective whole they took their eye off the ball, mailed in the required effort, and it has shown in these past few games (loses).

Lastly, BU has some serious issues to address, and coaching to do to right this ship before B10 play. The players also need to do some SERIOUS self-reflection also to refocus and but in the work or we're going to be lucky to get into the dance this year.

Yep, the main thing that needs to change is all the careless turnovers. If Kofi is open then get him the rock. If he is doubled or tripled work the ball and knock down open shots. Forcing things only causes turnovers and mistakes. If we can play smart and under control we will be fine. If not then we won't reach our potential. I think things will improve. Hopefully soon.

Ya, just don't throw it 90 miles an hour at his ankles. Everyone could use some work on how to feed the post.

This team as it currently sits is made up of mostly guys that have never played together, or played meaningful minutes together, prior to this season. Hawkins, Hutch, Payne, Plummer, Lieb, and the three freshman all new to the rotation minus meaningless minutes prior to this season.
It will take time, but I for one am confident this will be a very good season once they gel.
AC and TF…..hoping for good news and rapid recovery.
Good win boys!!!!!
In Brad…and GA, CF, TA, and AF….I trust.
