Illinois 72, Kansas State 64 Postgame

Beats losing.

I don't harbor any ill will towards Bruce (and I also liked his hair), but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed that Mark Smith didn't have his nose bloodied somehow.
Hard to have any ill will towards by all accounts a really great person, bled orange and blue, ran a clean program, coached one of Illinois's best teams in history to the NC game and was coach for the best and most important comeback in Illinois history.

I think our ceiling is ridiculously high. We got nothing from Frazier all week and split.
Don't underestimate what he gives us that doesn't show up on the stats sheet.

He is our second or third most important player, and it's a large drop-off from there.

Praying for a minor injury. Sucks to see an all timer go down like that. Hoping it's similar to Ayo's.

Are there free transfers between this and the CoHawk Hype Train? His may have been pulled to the side to let the Hutch Train through? I was in the Bar Car.

People are highlighting the Kofi assist to Plummer, which was a great pass. But I was even more impressed with his second assist, hitting a cutting Grandi for a layup.

And it wasn’t just those 2. He passed out of double teams many times. We got much better looks from 3 tonight, so no coincidence we made more.

Really hope Trent and Belo are okay.

Life is so much happier when we win and I avoid the game thread.....

Also, NL # 3 sitting beside me and holding me close helps too.........

I was busy when Trent got hurt but Brian B. said it didn't look good....something about BBV fell on him and hurt his knee.....I bet belo is still feeling the effects of the concussion and I believe he got hit on the head at least 2 times during the game...I expected Belo to throw up when they had the camera on him...

Hutch looked great
DMW hit a big 3 and played great D
Kofi with another double double and a great assist to Plummer for a three
Plummer with seven 3's will be the talk of the college scene , but this was a team victory with all competing hard .....

Hope that Trent is ok
Hope that Belo is ok

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving holiday....My holiday plans fell into place in a great way.....
Details will be posted soon on the Old-Age thread.......................................

I continue to be intrigued by Pruman's life

Hate that Belo is dealing with serious concussion stuff - but also optimistic that it explains some of his play this far.

Guessing Belo sits vs Rio Grande. After that- feels like Belo, Plummer, Hutch, Hawk, Kofi … with Damonte, Grandison, Payne (maybe BBV instead) as heavy rotation. Trent gets all the tic he wants when fully healthy.

Good effort and hustle tonight. Turnovers (especially dumb ones) continue to plague this team in every game. If the Illini can get that problem under control, we are a much better team and can compete at the upper level of the Big Ten. Kofi showed marked improvement from last night, and Plummer was an absolute assassin. Whether we can play well against better competition remains an open question.

Podz is going to be playing I think. Trent did not look great, I hope I am wrong but his shot was way off before the injury and now he has a shoulder and a knee to deal with. I hope Podz is as good as he was inHS because I think we need him big time now.

Plummer was just lights out. I was hoping he would get 2 more 3's for the school record. (I think they said 8 is the record?)
Curbelo was better even though I was still yelling a few times to "KICK IT OUT!" when he had players open on the wings as he drove towards/around the hoop.
Kofi being Kofi and another double double. Loved that 15 footer while being guarded.
Trent did a lot of other things to help out on an off shooting night. Hope he is going to be ok.
If we had only half the TO's we did we would of won by 20.
Glad we beat Webber.
Fan on K State Board said he bets that guy doesn't ever get 7 threes again in his career. He's had what 11 before?!

Honestly IMO, it was similar to the last couple games except Plummer hit shots. Kofi & Plummer were good, but the rest of the team seemed lost & didn't want the shot. We have good shooters, if the shot is open hit it. Defense was OK at best, but not the intensity and discipline of last year. Trent's injury is very concerning, he is one of our best clutch players.

There was a couple plays by Trent, Grandison, and DMW where they passed on wide open 3s. Also several easy passes that were missed that could have been wide open shots. Definitely a lot of room for improvement but a much better flow than the last couple games.

Ya, just don't throw it 90 miles an hour at his ankles. Everyone could use some work on how to feed the post.
I don’t get throwing a pass at a 7 footers feet either. They did it several times in the Cincy ( I can’t spell Cincinatti) and at least twice tonight.

You know they won’t, sky. This forum is full of negative nancies. But to their credit I think it is cathartic to come and complain with each other.
Yes, this. Have to have someone to share paign with, esp when you are the only person un your house that cares about sports. Just have to be careful to avoid getting banned.

Without specifying, I feel like by him mentioning Podz, he gave a pretty good hint that we could/will be without Trent's services for a while.
Unfortunitly, that looked season injury bad, we just keep getting bad break after bad break. Ugg I hope I am wrong and Trent os OK.

We need to be pushing it off a miss every time, that's how we ran teams down and extended leads. Granted, we don't have an elite 6'5 guy who can finish, but pulling up in the half court and running 15 seconds off the clock and running a play is not our game. We are really lacking the confidence to be the aggressor in these games.

Right now the parts are greater than the sum. Kofi has been as advertised, but everyone else needs to find their place right now. Give me Curbelo, Hutch, Grand, Hawkins, Kofi to start without Frazier in the line up it seems.

I'd like to see more BBV than Payne right now.
