Have bad memories of that place from the 1988 NCAA tournament ...

Where the #3 seed Illini - with all of the players who started for the 1989 Final 4 team in key roles (plus Glynn Blackwell and Jens Kujawa) - blew a 10 point lead over Villanova in the last 3 minutes of a second round game (by, among other things, missing the front end of 5 consecutive one and one FT opportunities while Villanova made 4 3FGs). Trib article: Free Throws Cost Illinois

The double bonus rule change giving 2 shots for FTs upon the 10th foul of the half was not implemented until a couple of years later, and likely would have changed the outcome.
Another in the long list of memories I'm trying to forget. Certainly we have had our share of early-outs.

May this year begin a new trend in our history and put Fighting back into The Illini.

Fabulous. Happy memories. I've seen that video repeatedly in years past. Never noticed our player at the end of the bench (Mav?) running out to the pile at midcourt while his warmup pants fall down to his ankles. :ROFLMAO:

I'm kinda jacked for this evening. I detest Miznoz, much more than I did when in school. It increases with each passing year.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri’s best chance to extend its winning streak in the Braggin’ Rights game might be finding another year of eligibility for former center Jeremiah Tilmon. Unfortunately for the Tigers, that’s impossible.
While Tilmon enjoys a nice rookie season for the Lakeland Magic of the NBA’s G League, the Tigers need a solution for Illinois junior center Kofi Cockburn. The 7-foot, 285-pound behemoth poses an extreme matchup challenge for the Tigers in Wednesday’s annual showdown, which returns to Enterprise Center (8 p.m., Big Ten Network) after last year’s rare campus matchup in Columbia.

Cockburn marches into Braggin’ Rights posting All-American averages: 21.4 points and 11.9 rebounds while shooting 62.5% from the floor. He draws 7.4 fouls per 40 minutes, per KenPom.com. Only seven players in the country average more.

I was at that game. Sitting with my Mizzou grad friends, on the Mizzou side. My buddies had just been going crazy since Mizzou tied it up, and based on the defense, it looked like it was going to OT. When Rice took a step back, highly contested 3, my buddies at first threw their hands up and were ready to start celebrating it going to OT. But we had the perfect angle to see that about halfway through the arc of the shot, that it was going in. I started jumping and my buddies went from hands in the air, cheering, to sitting down, with their heads in the hands. I of course was going nuts on them.

That was a good day...

I shouldn't be nervous about this game, but I'm nervous about this game. Life of an Illini fan
There have been a ton of upsets this year. I think most fans feel nervous going into most games this year, but especially a rivalry game

I was at that game. God, that was painful.

So I was curious about Tilmon. Would he be a difference maker if he had come back for season 5? After a really good game in 2018, here's how he did the last two games with Kofi playing.

Nah. The guys who have really killed us the last 3 years are Pickett, Pinson, and Drew (not Mark) Smith. 2 of the 3 are gone.

If we can keep them off the offensive glass and limit turnovers I really think we should be fine, even if Pickett goes off again. But we’ve got to come ready to play. They will be physical and try and get in our heads.

Hello all,

Long time lurker here. I've been following since before Cliffmas, but never had much constructive to say - not an insider. Looking into getting last minute tickets for tonight. Does anyone know what end the Illinois bench is on? I don't want to sit behind the bad guys.

This is really what it's all about for me in this game. I don't care how many double-double's Kofi has, I don't care how many 3's Plummer has hit, I don't care how much experience Trent and Damonte have. This game is about effort and intensity and if we show up flat then it's not gonna end well for us.

Wheelhouse has good bar food, a ton of t.v.’s and is close to the stadium. But, it will be crawling with Mizzou fans and it will be very busy. I’m also pretty sure its not 21+ til 10 but I haven’t lived in stl in 3 years.

Caleco’s has decent pizza and is on the other side of downtown (near the old courthouse/arch). Lots of seating and its located under a parking garage so it won’t be a problem getting in and out.

If you don’t mind driving 10-15 minutes past downtown into the city, I’d recommend pi pizza (deep dish-ish) in the central west end (better than Caleco’s).

That neighborhood will also have a lot more going on than downtown. But I’d only recommend that if you were getting in town at least 2-3 hours before the game.

Those places are more casual places which I figured you would be looking for with teenagers. But, if you wanted to get slightly more fancy there’s a ton of great restaurants all over Stl, I’m happy to give you some of those recs too.
Caleco's is closed.
Wheelhouse is not where I would take my kids.

I believe Calecos has closed.
Closer to the Enterprise Center are Sybergs on Market ( a few blocks west on Market, you can see the new soccer stadium), Maggie O’Briens on Market (block west of Union Station).
On the eastern side of the Center are the Wheelhouse as mentioned and the Midwestern (good bbq and nice booze selection). Those will be a good 4-5 block walk on Spruce.

Just don’t park in the flat lot that is immediately south and across the street of the Center, by the Amtrak station. Cars are continually broken in during the last few Blues games.
Try to find a garage or park in Union Station lot.
