My non-insider take ('23 and on):

- we're big game hunting
- we're not gonna take two short guards (with Epps already on board)
- one need only look at one of many good NBA teams to understand Underwood's preferred template (6' 5" - 6' 8" deadeye shooters who can handle the ball and are good athletes)

Watson is an automatic take, IMO. Pretty much everyone on here knows Thomas is right there, AFAIC. But I've heard conflicting info on that. Brown is obviously an automatic take. Not sure about the Lithuanian kid from Lemont, but I wouldn't be shocked.
What's the Lithuanian kid's name?

addendum:
- staff thinks Boswell is attainable (not a long shot)
- Ames might be a take (despite his height), because he can fill it up

Welcome to the Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread :illinois:

2022 Illini Recruiting
Sencire Harris (2022 G) committed on July 3rd, 2021, signed on November 10th, 2021.
Jayden Epps (2022 G) committed on July 13th, 2021, signed on November 10th, 2021.
Ty Rodgers (2022 F) committed & signed on November 17th, 2021.

2024 Illini Recruiting
Morez Johnson (2024 PF) committed on November 4th, 2021.
Morez is a 5-star recruit on Rivals. Sorry if I'm being redundant; I'm still trying to learn how to navigate the forums.

That depends on how we count. The Scholarship Grid is here. https://www.illinoisloyalty.com/post/scholarship-grid.26498/page-6 Be sure to scroll all the way down.

We are allowed 13 scholarships next year. At the moment, all thirteen have committed players. If Hutcherson returns from a medical redshirt and Grandison decides to be a "super senior", then we will have fifteen players in thirteen slots. "Super seniors" such as Trent and DMW do not count against the limit this year, but they will count in future years.

If Grandy and Hutch leave, and Kofi goes pro, we will have one opening for next year. If more players leave for any reason, we will have more openings. Who else is going to leave? Well, every year I convince myself that everyone loves Illinois and no one is going to leave. I have been wrong every single season so far. In my defense, I will say that I twice predicted Kofi's return, so I don't always get everything wrong.

So, depending on how we count, we could be over-committed by two, or we could have 1 to 4 or thereabouts left to give. We all know BU knows how to count, and we also know that even BU can be surprised. I don't think even BU foresaw Adam Miller's departure.
The two things that surprised me on Miller (besides his transferring) were how consistently determined and effective he was on the defensive end how scared he seemed to play on offense. BU gave him every chance to succeed, even starting him in games when he no longer warranted it.

Not quite. Those stars would be orangish if they were part of his rating. It doesn't mean Morez won't be good, just that he hasn't been evaluated yet.

Welcome to the board!

Speaking of height: did anyone else see that Ayo is listed at 6-4 on the Bulls team roster page?

Maybe I'm late to the game but I thought he was 6-6.

The best part of waking up is Golgers in your cup. Hope for a couple of good 22 recruits late signing period.
I hear you, but with the four (counting the Baylor transfer) we've already got on board, and the strong start for class of '24, I'd really like to know who we've got on the hook for class of '23. The Lithuanian kid from Lemont is listed at 6-4, but he'll probably be more like 6-5 or 6-6 by the time he graduates high school. If we could get him, along with the two studs from St. Rita, that '24 class would probably be as good as anybody in the country. I agree that Fears shouldn't be a priority for us now with Epps coming and Curbelo (presumably) still in the mix. We don't need another short guard who is a questionable shooter.

I'd say you're learning the ways of the forum just fine. #growthplatesareopen

Boswell will be a long shot.
