I love Curbelo's passion, I love DaMonte's willingness to sand up for his teammates, etc., etc.

However, the "problem" with getting ANY kind of technical is it gives your opponent two free points and another free possession. The problem is pretty obvious. ;)

Granted, they may not be at full strength (dunno who is playing), but I was thinking this could be a time we see Kofi and Omar on the court together for a few stretches due to their size/length at the 4/5. Granted, CoHawk may get the tick if he can hold his own. I just think Grandi and DMW could be outmatched at the 4, but would love to see them at the 3 for this game. On the flip side, I think if scUM even dreamed of going "small ball", which I can't see them doing, we win easily.

UM can grab a couple players from the football team. You only need 5 to play basketball.

Illinois minutes vs MD

Frazier 40
Williams 37
Plummer 35
Grandison 31
Cockburn 28
Hawkins 19

we basically played 6 players

Go big and put all 3 out there! Never know what it could do from an offensive and defensive rebou ding perspective.

CoHawk can play the perimeter and cause issues if staying out of foul trouble with his length. Trent and DMFW have to be out there as our best perimeter defender, but could be interesting lineup

Good post Nightman
1. #10 Michigan State: 5-0
1. #25 Illinois: 5-0
2. #13 Wisconsin: 4-1
2. #16 Ohio State: 4-1
3. Indiana: 3-2
3. Rutgers: 3-2
4. Purdue: 2-2.

I agree with the take, but need to add a correction.
However, I prefer seeing the rest of the BIG with their actual place within conference standings….
1. MSU
1. Illinois
3. Wisc
3. OSU
5. IU
5 RU
7. Purdue

Well now me know maybe why Kofi was a little gassed vs Neb. Line drills in practice for every turnover.

We had a lot of turnovers.

It's been working for the Cavs this year!

Dang, I wanted them to be healthier than this. It’s a lose-lose. I can hear the fichigan fans now…

If we win handily: Illinois only beat UM because of COVID

If we squeak by: Shorthanded UM almost beat Illinois on the Road

If we lose: Shorthanded UM overcomes all odds and beats Illinois on the road.

🙄🙄🙄
Let’s hope their bus doesn’t crash and they have to wear practice jerseys.

Throw out the record books for a rivalry, guys and gals. This one is gonna be good.

Kofi had a "less than stellar" double-double against Nebby, but I'm sure glad that CoHawk and Payne had good games. Gonna be some big bodies vs. scUM and Purdon't

Just win. I don't care if they are playing managers.

On a different note, it was interesting hearing Juwan’s presser regarding Friday's matchup.
When asked about the importance of making up this years two missed games due to covid:
“….we ARE going to plays those games….ADs will get together and we are going to figure it out like how we did last year…”

Huh???
So apparently they made up those games last year and earned their fake championship?
Or will they will duck games again this year and try to manipulate standings?

Two points:

1. Beating Michigan is N-E-V-E-R a "lose-lose". Never. Beating them is a win, no matter what the circumstances.
2. I couldn't care less what their obnoxious, self-entitled fan base thinks.

Just win.

A look at the top of the Big Ten standings as we head into Thursday and Friday's games:

1. #10 Michigan State: 5-0
1. #25 Illinois: 5-0
2. #13 Wisconsin: 4-1
2. #16 Ohio State: 4-1
3. Indiana: 3-2
3. Rutgers: 3-2
4. Purdue: 2-2

Huge game tonight with OSU at Wisconsin, as the winner will keep pace with MSU and Illinois, while the loser could theoretically be tied with Indiana. On another tangent, though, Iowa could knock Indiana back down into the pack by beating them tonight in Iowa City. MSU hosts Northwestern on Saturday, so we REALLY need to beat Michigan to keep up with them. If we could beat a talented-if-underachieving Michigan team while MSU is beating yet another bottom four team at home, we'd continue to put ourselves in great shape.

If every team that is favored wins their games the rest of the week (OSU/UW is really the only matchup with two teams near the top), the standings will look like this when #7 Purdue comes to town to face a soldout State Farm Center:

1. #10 Michigan State: 6-0
1. #25 Illinois: 6-0
2. #13 Wisconsin: 5-1
3. #16 Ohio State: 5-2
4. Purdue: 3-2
5. Indiana: 3-3
5. Rutgers: 3-3

In other words, if we can take care of Michigan and hold down homecourt vs. Purdue to beat them ... we can be looking at 7-0 as MSU faces its next two games at Wisconsin and at Illinois. Beating Michigan leaves us with win-win, HUGE opportunities coming up at home!

EDIT: I guess we play at Maryland next Friday?? Haha, my bad.
Always appreciate the effort you put into your analysis.
