I’ve recently worn the same outfit for the last 4 games. Sports superstition is a real thing, especially for me. I threw away the shirt I was wearing during the Loyola game 😂

I’ve been convinced to go watch the game at a bar tonight SO I’ll be wearing my navy/black 03-04 away replica game shorts under my jeans and 2021 big ten tournament championship t shirt under my (Illini) 1/4 zip tonight

^^^^the streak continues btw

Ok, I thought it was pretty obvious I was referring to the PG position when I said to back up Trent until Belo is back. Quite frankly we don't need podz at any other position but PG right now. It is good he is getting limited experience in some regard but not much if any at point. We need him or someone in that role at least until Belo is back.
I don't disagree at all, I was just trying to point out that Brad does trust him as evidenced by the minutes he's getting the last few games.
I still would like to see Hawkins bring the ball up more as a change of pace and player development move.

Man, you aren't kidding. I think if Trent has to sit I like Alfonz at point a LOT more than Damonte. I think I'd rather see Melendez run point than watch DW try again. To Michigan's credit they played fast and defended like mad. The officiating was... bizarre? That first half was difficult to watch and/or make sense of. What a game. Trent was a beast but I thought Plummer really played clutch at some critical times as well. Kofi was just Kofi. They hacked him to pieces and he hung tuff. Pretty gritty win tonight boyz. What did that look like on TV? It was pretty nutz at the Hall [SFC].
It looked exactly like you just described it.

So what clicked for us with 6 minutes to go in the game. The last 6 minutes they looked like the Fightin Illini..... the first 34 not so much. Looks like we won this game at the free throw line and the 3 point line(in the 2nd half).
IMHO it was the lineup. We limited DW's play time, Frazier, Grandison, Plummer, Kofi, and Hawkins. DW played some good minutes defensively but there was a point in the game where it looked like they were in his head and he needed to sit. DW bounces back to sink a three late... I think he'll have a good game against Purdue. Michigan couldn't buy a three either so they're not build to come back quickly. We shut down simple layups and that's really all they had.

The Michigan pundits already making the case on the Fox after show that it could have been different if they had Hunter

Well, we will know next month and perhaps twice more in B10 tourney and may be even during March Madness

The way I look at it is that they played better than advertised and we played below par (and yet won by a good margine)

Well I think its clear he doesn't trust him or really anyone at PG right now with Belo except Trent. He plays others because he has to but only a minute or two. BU said in the post game Trent was gassed and wanted to come out but he didn't do so and Trent got through it. If Podz or anyone else was truly trusted at PG then would have been in running point when DMW was struggling mightly doing so and Trent wanted a break. We need Trent or Belo at point until some else can really be trusted to do so. Right now its far from ideal when Trent sits.
Tonight Jones was a very good on ball defender and caused any ball handler problems. I was impressed at his defense and ball pressure.

REALLY highlights how much we need Andre, simply as another ball handler.
I think the last two games have shown what we’ll see going forward. Teams will extend their defense , not allowing Illinois to run their offense. They may also make more of an effort to make someone besides Trent handle the ball. I think we’ll be seeing a lot of ugly basketball. (Except Purdue . They do what they do.)

Nah, we're talking past each other. I'm saying that Brad trusts him. Trusting a true freshman to run point on this team with no previous tick would have been madness and totally unfair to Podz. I'm saying he'll get there. This is a process.

And to be fair to the coaching staff, Belo having been out this long has, at least from those of us outside the program, been surprising.

Had to catch up on DVR. Quick thoughts:

1. H-Dick is massively over-rated, so no HD and no Curbelo is advantage Michigan, and we won by 15.

2. I love DMW. Love him. LOVE him. But he’s had two crap games in a row. So I look forward to a bounce back game on Monday. Maybe not in the box score - but in changing the game.

3. ALL of our shooters were ice cold for the first 30, and we never trailed. Good thing Michigan isn’t as good of a basketball program as UT-RioGrandValley!

4. Kofi is pretty good.

This is true....Nothing against DMW at all , but PG is not his gig.....he really can't do it well enough for us to survive a smothering defense as his handles aren't suited for that..........DMW impacts every game he plays in , some games better than others ....tonight's game won't make any all star highlight reels for sure....His 3 pter late in te game was great , but his schtick is D and glue .....

I think Podz could do as well or maybe a little better than DMW as he seems to not be unsure at all....kinda feisty even......JMHO

Just took a closer look at the rebounding stats. I can't find fault with pulling down more boards than a very athletic Mi. team. They did get 6 more offensive than the Illini, but they missed 13 more shots and way too many of their shots took odd angles or long bounces that allowed them to get another possession on the basis of fortune. There were maybe a couple that could or should have been corralled, but the same on the other end. What won the game was timely shooting when shooters were tired...by the Illini....plus a great night at the charity stripe with our guys, and Kofi, shooting 87% and 71% respectively. Still some sloppy play that kept the Illini from winning the turn battle, but only by one. Overall, they were undermanned and beaten by a more experienced team who played OK, and maybe BU said a word or two, like please and thank you, that left an indelible impression about hustle and energy. I am certain he was polite about it. At least we did not waste an excellent all-around game on Mi. which makes an excellent game against Purdue go up in probability.

Pru - sometimes your posts exhaust me. I’m not concerned with Walken gifs, hallucinogenics, or neighbor lady counts… but then you post stuff like this and I remember you’re also a knowledgeable fan with quality insights (along with some wild stories), and I appreciate you again.

Ok … I actually enjoy the neighbor lady stories. I L L!
