Im betting that Dainja will put in the work.....I mean if you're around a group of players that are working their tails off, whether on the court or in the weight room to get better, I think you're going to be effected by that in a very positive way....knowing that your teammates are putting in the work ....but if you're sluffin off...it would be a little embarrassing I would think....I think the work ethic of the coaches and other players on the team will rub off on DD....now how that translates into performance and results... time will tell. Trusting that the staff sees some good possibilities DD or they wouldn't have him here
If only this translated to my kids pitching in around the house

True. Ayo didn't get that much love though. Bet a lot of scouts wish they could have a do over on that one.
Yeah maybe about 20-25 franchises would like a mulligan on that one—no biggie :)

I have to wonder too if Ayo greatly exceeding expectations for a contender has changed the perception of how our guys may perform if/when drafted. In other words, yeah Curbelo missed some time, but maybe it doesn’t matter to scouts because they have some proof that this program produces talent that is ready to contribute to an NBA roster.

Any word on whether scouts think Kofi could roster if he finds the right situation (which at most appears to be a change of pace big off the bench to screen guys to death and roll and gobble up boards)?

Love Kofi and he’s an elite ;) college basketball player. I think he will get a chance at the nba level but it’ll be tough. He can’t ply the bully ball at the next level and will get eaten alive when he’s pulled away from the hoop. Also can’t camp in the paint defensively in the NBA.

B-ILL

Working From Home
Andre needs to develop a stronger outside game.

In NBA there are shotblockers everywhere and he will be guarded by players 6 inches taller than him.

He does not have to drain three's like Stefan Curry - but a nice mid range pull up jumper would be golden. He has the quickness and it would open up the passing lanes.

If he can do that I think he can get drafted. If he wants to go in 1st round he needs to average 20 ppg and become a stronger defender.
Is this Stephen Curry's European counterpart?!

He's gotta at least get a cup of coffee, right? I caught a bit of a couple of Pistons games this year and can confirm that I've shown better lateral movement dodging Jehovah's Witnesses in the mall than Garza does on the court and he's getting a little playing time this year.

Brad likes where he sits. The plan is for Boswell to come for another visit in February. From what I have gathered we could see a decision not long after that ...

I'll let everyone else piece the puzzle together from there ... ;)
Didn't realize until now but there are only 3 home games in February. Thursday night against OSU or Sunday afternoon against NW seem like the only real possibilities.

I really hope it's already on the table....but seeing that the criteria for Frazier's #1 in the rafters is probably out of reach....I would love to see the staff create a defensive award/tracking metric to honor Trent's commitment to Illinois. Considering there is also a Frazier on staff...who was pretty damn good on D....it seems like a no brainer to have a Frazier defensive award/tracker.

Maybe with a cool name?

Frazier Fear Factor
Frazier Fight Factor

Or just...you know... The Frazier.
Brings up a question. Do we still award the Matto?

I agree he will get a long look. He certainly looks the part. Garza isn't a great comp though. Garza has the ability to stretch a defense, and score in the post. Kofi can only do one of those at this point. Kofi's jumper is kind of like the sasquatch. There is some grainy footage on the internet, but it doesn't appear often enough to believe its real.

Kofi's biggest barrier would be his defense away from the painted area. If you dare NBA centers to shoot, they will. A lot of them are pretty good at it. No doubt he could rebound at that level.

He tends to get frustrated with guys who are similarly sized. He will need more than just raw power at the next level. I think it's coming, but its not there.

As much as the zebras played a factor I don't think the PU game helped Kofi. One of the only times he couldn't overpower the opposing 5 and he struggled mightily. I wouldn't mind seeing him against a true stretch 5. I think his sagging into the paint is a lot to do with game planning and essentially nullifying the pick and roll. He seems game at guarding out to the perimeter in a few instances he has been challenged with it.

I think Kofi’s greatest skill is something he hasnt been able show off much this year because we’ve been playing without a point guard: destroy the rim on pick and rolls. I would suspect they changes as Curbelo continues to work himself back in.

I'm not sure why it would take that much for him to get drafted. If we keep winning this season and he's a major part then I'd have to think he's got a shot even if we underperform in the tournament.
He’s not getting drafted and neither is Kofi. Love them both but not going to happen. Possibly late second round if at all for either of them.

He will get a look for sure. And if he really improves his shooting and even better chance. It’s just such an outside game now.

2nd round is getting drafted, so not sure how you posted that first bit.

Both those guys have strengths that put them in the discussion, and weaknesses they'll need to improve on. I don't see how anyone can make a confident prediction at this point.

As valuable a piece as damonte has been, I expect a damonte-like contribution to be his basement floor—he’s a stud.
Yeah, I know Damonte slander will not be tolerated , but let’s be honest, he never panned out to expectations because of his terrible knee injury in HS. That being said, Damonte is a killer on hustle and defense.
