FAT 50.60 400 with legal wind as a junior means he can probably go sub 50 as a senior this year. Legitimate strong speed.

6’2.75 high jump as a junior represents pretty decent explosion as well. A jump to 6’5 or so as senior would be a nice and doable leap in explosion, and project well for his explosive abilities down the line.

Not likely a big impact player next year, but could be in the rotation. With his age being young, I’d bet they’ll want to save him as a red shirt unless injuries force him into more playing time.

Really good athlete. Played for one of the best teams in school history (maybe not saying much for some schools). Was a great receiver but I have no doubt he can play safety. I’m glad to see him commit to the Illini!!

I like the idea of converting Wrs to safety. Helps them have a better understanding of route concepts and means they have good hands to make plays.

I have no problem with this signing good athlete hopefully he can become a really good safety or corner? I was hoping they've recruit denim cook out of Saint Teresa High School in Decatur Illinois he's 5.9 230 lb he rushed for 7000 yards. That's not why I wanted them to recruit him. I was hoping he'd play free safety like the Minnesota Golden Gophers baller did two years ago . the same type of kid who went in the first round with an amazing knack for the ball on defense. even though he rushed for 7000 yards. on defense he was all state crazy every year on Defense, he knows where to get the ball, hits like a Mack truck, and he's fast.
I like this signing but they need to look a little deeper that's where Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin's come up with great players. Good luck and welcome. I L L I N I....

We’ve definitely taken some projects this class. I do have more confidence that this staff will actually develop it. Would really like to see some more speed.

Ok. Thanks for the link! I missed Bailey on list initially.

Follow up question. It’s 25 HS max plus the transfers, correct?
The 25 includes transfers. I believe schools can offer additional scholarships, to high schoolers or transfers, matching the number lost early, with a maximum of seven.

Are you from Decatur or still live there? Im in Mt. Zion, grew up in Decatur. Seems like kids here do often get overlooked. Couple of MacArthur players had great college careers. Unfortunately for schools other than the Fighting Illini.

I am surprised Cook doesn't have a recruiting profile.

I hope you meant fast. Walters is great coach but fat safeties are not ideal.

Can’t tell if you’re just joking so I’ll play the straight man. Fully automatic timing. Very accurate, not dependent on a coach’s stopwatch reaction time.

FAT means a fully automatic timing system was used. The best, most accurate way to
Measure time, so a legitimate time. Compared to hand timing.
Does legal wind apply to the 400? I can’t wrap my head around that. Regardless, he sounds like he has wheels.
Yeah you’re right lol I’m just used to looking at wind because 100s are the only real spring of interest to me.

Appreciate the info. I am not a track person. I was trying to play a joke on a mistyped word and got myself into trouble, haha.
