Anyone else puzzled by RJ's relegation to the end of the bench? He's shown flashes in the very little time he's seen, but I guess he's also shown a bit of a tendency for careless turnovers and not being strong with the ball as well. At least I remember BU being pretty upset with him a few times. Hope he sticks with it as I think he can be a difference maker at some point.
Same concern here. He had 4 mins in the Minny game and played two minutes total since.

This has truly been a taxing season on the players and coaching staff........We had lofty expectations before Kofi got the 3 game suspension.....Then the Belo injury and all the time he has missed ......Trent getting hurt........Now the Kofi concussion and Belo now with covid .........

The culture of this years Illini is never give up no matter what trauma we must face........ ( the Cincy game notwithstanding )

The game tonight is worth it's weight in gold , no matter how much of the lead we gave up......A win is a win is a win..........

Every day guys is such a great adjective for this Illini program from BU all the way down to the managers and everyone else involved with the program....This is the first time I have been able to smile for the last 36 hours and smile I will.................I can't believe we won without Kofi and Belo....That's my cross to bear as I never have went into a game thinking we had a chance to lose.....it's not in my makeup.......but today after the news came out about being shorthanded without Kofi I just couldn't comprehend that we would win tonight ........So my faith wavered but i am back to where I need to be with my belief in this team ....

thank BU and staff and all the players for such an entertaining 2 1/2 hours of fun and enjoyment.......

next up ....................mildcats stew on Saturday......................yum yum..............I'm done with crow..........................

What I've noticed re: CoHawk on offense for a good while now is that when he does get the ball it seems like he's only looking to pass it as quickly as possible. It looks like hot potato, no threat to drive and very little to shoot.

He also missed a wide open dive to the rim. I think it was maybe Grandison that made the pass and he just didn't roll. Could have been an easy dunk.

What's Alan Griffin doing in the House?

Asking because wtf?
it generally has seemed that guys like miller and griffin have kept a relationship going with at least the other players since they left.

Alan spent 2 years here..may have friends even outside of bball (or ladies ha) to see. They are still normal dudes at the end of the day.

or mystery transfer? HA dont see how that could even happen

Jabari Parker was at a game recently as well. No one seemed to know why. Not sure if it's some kind of PR effort, if it's because we're the best show in town, or if they just want to come watch us play and think about what could've been. But it's cool to see some Illinois hoops celebrities show up to our home games.

I would like to see all of our freshman get a couple minutes in nearly every game. I think Plummer and Frazier are getting tired late in games as evidenced by their shooting late in the last 2 games. They are playing a lot of minutes and a few minutes of rest here and there could help our seniors and freshman

Started with Kofi and him selling stuff and losing 3 games. Then Curbello loses 2 months to concussion. Then Kofi loses 2 games to concussion. Now Curbello is out due to Covid (What I have read). I am waiting for the next player to go down because they are pregnant...it would be the icing on the cake this year...😟

Shades of Weberball down the stretch, but somewhat understandable when you have the center of your offensive universe in concussion protocol. Gutty, gritty W.

Well put man.

My father and I were on pins and needles up here on the other side of the river in Carbondale. We are all a rare breed of Illini fans down here in UK territory.

It wasn’t a visually pleasing 2nd half. It was just a gritty team win.

Finally..

I’d like to personally thank the MSU dude for grabbing the rim for no reason negating 2 PTS.

Onward and upward.

How important can these minutes for Payne, Benji, and Luke be at a later point in the year WITH a healthy Kofi and Curbelo? Also love how quickly the ball was in bounded after the uhh oh free throw. Glad to see basketball instincts take over instead of over thinking in a clutch moment.

He just got waived by Westchester Knicks 2 days ago. Maybe he’s back in Chicago and decided to come down for the game.
I didn't know Alan had turned pro.

I kept thinking I might see his name in a college boxscore at some point this season.

Then when I saw him hug Coach I thought he might be the rumored transfer.

I was yelling at the TV to run some offense. I was confused because BU has always said that more actions is better because you increase the likelihood of a defensive breakdown. When you hold the ball for 15 seconds now you don't have to run as many actions and get a good look. Definitely seemed to hurt.

Absolutely a huge moment in this game. Such a crazy mental mistake by a normally level headed team!

It seemed that his mother wanted him to transfer to SYR much more than he did, to be closer to home. BU recruited him and I'm sure there's residual affection there.
I feel like people think players transferring means they hate the program. He might have had a good relationship with Coach Underwood. He likely still has friends on the team. A lot can cause a transfer. Does not mean there's any bad blood and stuff like this makes me hopeful that there never is.
