Well, good 1st half , not so good second half.......
Refs really weren't a big factor other than stefonovic hacking kofi repeatedly in the game
our 3's weren't falling and our D was lacking in the second half....I think purdont shot 60 % + in second half
R J is gonna be a star for us ....he has the ability to be a game changer if he works at it and works hard with fletch to get a bigger B1G body ....
Still in 1st place and thats all that matters now

BU now on radio interview ..............

we lost our composure in a 4 minute stretch
we gave up to many three's in that bad second half stretch
we are still in 1st place
we didn't play well and purdont shot 65 % in 2nd half
we got great looks but you gotta make shots
Trent just banged knees so he's ok
Belo did some good things but we can't win with only 13 assists
R J is playing great and will be a really really great player .....plays to much with his hands...really pleased with his play tonight........

Bummer tonight , but life goes on ....time to fire up the one hitter and the coffee pot for a long night for us recuperating this loss ..NL # 3 is smiling at me and that helps me big time ....

peace Bro's .......

Purdue had the ace in Ivey this game. He balled out while we couldn’t hit a 3 when we needed to. Hopefully this blowout loss galvanizes the team going forward.

This is simply a bad matchup for the Illini. They have answers for what we like to do. They did a great job doubling hard when Kofi got the ball on the block.
Obviously we shot the ball like crap, so we are probably closer to them than this score indicates. Jaden Ivey is just a huge problem. We had our chances in game 1 because he was ineffective from the field, but he still did work at the FT line. Tonight he was a cheat code… just unfair…
We are still in good shape to hang a banner, but we can’t carry whatever that was the last 20 minutes into the next game. Bury that tape until we see them again.
We may not be better than Purdue, but we are certainly better than that.

Tough game in the 2nd half. We made tough 3's in the first half and missed wide open 3's in the 2nd half. Kofi has been neutralized by Purdue's bigs in both games. He starts to get frustrated and then won't pass out of double and triple teams. Ivey is basically Purdue's Ayo this year. Tremendous player and scores from anywhere making him tough to guard. Bright spots were Melendez having a great showing with limited minutes. He is going to be a player for use down the road.

Gee, I really wanted a win given today I'm emotionally in the dumps. This didn't help. Oh well. There's always tomorrow.
Sorry brother, but I’ve got the cure for what ails you. You just need to go to church on Sunday. And by church, I mean your local watering hole to watch our beloved annihilate the nerds from Northwestern.

IMHO
1. One thing I believe I've seen tonight is that Kofi is not indispensable. Seems to me that we may play at a higher level at times when he is on the bench.... Likely depends on who we are playing.

2. We need someone with RJ's length and athleticism. Thought cohawk would provide that but he just hasn't been able to do so yet. If I were bu I would seriously consider letting RJ get more experience in order to be ready for the tourney.

3. We had wide open looks that didn't fall tonight. Curbelo is still getting back to form.

4. I'll take BU any day over Matt Painter whom I greatly respect. How many years has Painter been at Purdue and how close has he come to a national championship? BU is building something special.
5. BU will continue to recruit and land his type of player. Over time he will dominate this conference.

I did not expect to win this one, unless Kofi went full Hulk on them. This game showed Kofi's flaws, our dependence on threes, and our lack of size at the 1-4 positions. We are a gifted, skilled team, but we have flaws, and Purdue matches up perfectly against them. However, few teams can do to us what Purdue does.

The biggest concern to me is the rebounding trend. Kofi had 7, no one else had more than 3. That has to be fixed.

On the upside, turnovers were not really an issue, other than three or four bad cross court passes. Those need to be fixed, too.

Picked a really bad night to go 0fer from 3 in the 2nd half. Hopefully the worst half we will have for the rest of the year. We just did not look composed alot of the time. First time this year that I did not think we could pull out a W when we were down. Credit that to Purdue. They are a really, really good team top to bottom. No chinks in the armor that I can see. Did not have a problem closing out tonight.

Didn’t help that our 2nd best player went 1-7 tonight. Ivey was incredible. We don’t have anybody like him. Chalk this down to a bad 2nd half and we have to find somebody to guard Ivey. We also need to learn how to stop the ball when the other team is on the break. It’s a fundamental of basketball. STOP THE BALL!!

Down to 15 from 15 on KenPom.

Texas beat #8 Kansas yesterday and went from #14 to #14.

That sucked. I find Purdue to be just as dislikable as Indiana and Iowa.

However there isn't a harder game left on the schedule in the regular season. Won't be easy, but I could be convinced we win out.
Nah. Only Edey is terribly dislikeable. I hate that they have our # so far this year, but respect for I've and Painter especially.

Looking at the stats, rebounds and assists were about even. Fouls and Turnovers were about even (we were under 10 TO again!). They just shot the ball a hell of a lot better than us, primarily from 2, cause of Ivey. Ivey Just killed us in that 2nd half. Probably what teams were saying last year about Ayo.
