Motion for that to be the last Illinois game Jay Williams ever calls… he and Izzo going to go sob together now.

Great game, Illini! Yeah, the announcers were unbearable. I hit the mute button in the second half and watched in complete silence. Missed the 3 second call in the lane, approximately when did that occur?

Regardless of the W, these Big10 refs never fail to surprise me with their ineptitude. That was an absolute clown show to both sides. The mid-play stoppage while Curbelo was down made no sense, the foul on Jake (which took place well before the shot) while the 3 point shot went down for an additional 1-1(a 5 point swing opportunity, are you kidding?) was brutal, and the 3 second call was perplexing.

And to be fair the other way there a couple out of bounds calls that were supremely questionable. Actually they missed some both ways. A couple times during the game I was kind of smiling cuz Illinois got away with something that should have been called. It's just shocking how all around bad and inconsistent B1G refs are.

We may not see Izzo in a good mood anytime soon, given that Sparty has now lost 4 of its last 5 and will be (per KenPom) the underdog in its next 4 games (at Iowa, Purdue, at Michigan, at OSU).

Sad Baby GIF
My lord that is a brutal stretch. They are going to be a 10 seed in the tournament

Great effort by the good guys, and great win. A few tense moments, but there are in most games when two of the top teams play in the BIG. Grandy was crazy good. Kofi was, well, Kofi good. Good to Hawk do some good things today. Hopefully he can build on that to finish the season. And I knew Plummer wasn’t a good defender, but he’s been really bad last two games. Still not hitting 3s, but he did get 8 points.

Lastly, I typically don’t join the chorus regarding announcers or refereeing, but damn. Usually I can just tune out the announcers, but Williams was terrible. And I didn’t think the refereeing was terrible (or no worse than normal) until a stretch with about 5 minutes left. Geez. Reminded me of the NU/MSU game back in January when refs were trying to hose NU out of the win.

Many announcers are unbearable. Love my mute button.

Our possession immediately after the almost 5 point play that got Grandison his 4th foul that the refs created for Izzo, makes you wonder....

You mean Trent held him in check. For those complaining about why didn't BU put Trent on Walker, that's why.
Yes, but by point 15 in the 2nd half and him torching us, I would think a switch would've been warranted even if it leaves Christie a little more free to operate. Go with what is actually happening, which is walker on a heater vs going with the potential of Christie to go off.

If you run that play thru Kofi, MSU can double him and just hack away knowing that a foul is not a bad outcome. I have no problem putting the ball in the hands of your toughest senior leader and telling him to win the game.
And our best free throw shooter on the court at that time.

Right after the 5 point play MSU didn't complete

Izzo is really hard to watch on the sidelines the way he cries to officials all game even on legit fouls- it probably got him a couple of calls today, but where is his self respect? Yes, officials are horrible, get used to it

With the goon attack on Ayo last year and his constant whining- I’ve lost all respect for Izzo over the last couple of years
Me too, his teams foul more than any team in the legue because he knows the Refs dare not call them all and whines like a baby all game long, sick of his hystrionics. Time for him to retire.

He was trashing the refs for letting the game run after Coleman stuffed Hall and broke him and stopping play when Curbelo got clocked
