Let me see if I have this right. We have between 12 players graduating/transferring and 18 new players as freshman or transfers.
Probably.

Maybe.

IMO, I am excited about our freshman coming in and if we add Skyy Clark awesome. The transfer portal has also given us Dain, and maybe one more (TSJ)??? Other than that keep our team intact, Kofi, Granison, Curbello, Goode, ....

Like when Adam entered the portal last year, I think my sentiment towards Curbelo will be very 'what could have been...' rather than feeling like we are losing existing production if he does indeed go. We saw a flash or two this year (Purdue at home), we saw quite a few flashes last year. What does his production/ year look like without the concussion? Under OA again? With another year or two in an Illini uni.

Basketball aside, I see some mental struggles being referenced. If he moves on we should all wish him well on that front first. Basketball second.

Fair enough. Crazy to me to think how the relationship between Belo and coaching staff has turned so toxic. Perhaps if OA was still here things may have been different? Or perhaps it wouldn’t of mattered. Regardless, Curbleo is definitely a unique player and there is no one else like him in college ball. Sad that it had to end this way.
Sounds more like medical/injury....time could help possibly...doubt OA can help with that unless he transfers to Kty.

I don’t think the relationship is toxic. They want what’s best for Curbelo and I think they think that’s for him to get a fresh start somewhere else

We are not trying to evolve the wrong way. What I saw all year were guards who could not penetrate, other than Curbelo who made 3 times more mistakes than good plays when he got in the lane. Trent and Damonte were warriors, but aren’t the type of guards to get to the next level. Underwood wants to win big. He’s looking for length and strength.

I told my friends all year that Melendez needed to play, and we needed to live with his mistakes. We would be a much better team toward the end of the year if he had played more…that was so frustrating to me. Curbelo got a long leash, but RJ and Hawkins did not!

I think we should learn from past tournament teams regarding the recipe for success…length, athleticism, strength…LET’S GO!!!

I have to believe Brad regrets the way he handled the freshman this year.

Slow dragging them along then throwing them into save the day vs Houston was wild.

I'm beside myself happy with the job he's done but I think he'd admit this privately.

We thought Belo does not want to stay but it's more of the other way around?

Anyone who doesn't want Ace to come back needs to get over themselves real quick. Also, we should all put our arms around Andre. It may work out, it may not, but he will always be our guy. These kids bleed and sweat for us to give us the good and bad. They give up so much so we can sit our fat !!! beer drinking selves on the couch and critique on stuff the vast majority of us only have highschool knowledge on at best.

I want to say this respectfully, while getting the bigger picture in focus. I love AC because I think he's a good guy and he's dealt with some tough stuff. They said, have you watched this tournament? There are a ton of player not only like him, but better. He is exciting, he makes wow plays, but he's also a turnover machine who can't shoot. Houston was begging him to shoot it and that's all you really need to know what other teams think. You can't have a poor decision maker with below average shooting ability playing the bulk of the PG minutes on a contending team. We were not a contending team this year on a national level. We were undersized at every position, but center and we lived and died by the three. Look at the size, length and athleticism of the teams playing. St. Peter's actually has a better guard group than we had. Late in games, they all can shoot, they all can handle the ball, they don't turn the ball over and they all make free throws. BU is a really smart guy and he sees this. There's going to be a complete roster turnover and it's merited. Not sure what that's going to look like, but I suspect it will be quite different than what we've been seeing the last three years. More pace, more chaos, creating more turnovers, more transition offense.....a 180 from what we're used to.
