Pretty sure his biggest (or one of his biggest) stream ever was the one breaking down the incoming Illini recruiting class. He shouted out the Illini fan base afterwardsGreat way to try to get eyeballs on his stream.

I think the Spoon still has the best numbers for a three year player (freshmen could not play back then) of all Illini hoopsters.I remember the Spoon. 25 ppg 12 rbg. 8 years in NBA. One of best players to ever wear the Illini uniform.
Red Lion also. Slink Rand..Chances R was the best place in Champaign in 1970s.... Some great bands there on weekends
Pork and the Havava Ducks and the New Colony Six...Dr Bop and the Headliners, featuring the White Raven.
I don't think they are afraid of competition as much as they are looking for the absolute best situation for them to showcase their talents the most and best so they can make it to the NBA. If there is someone that the coaching staff feels is as good or better than you, regardless if it's true, you won't see the court as much and risk not being able to make your case for the NBA.Just bickering here, but something that eats at me about competition:
I coach a 14u travel team here in the Quad Cities. None of these kids are mine, started coaching them when they were 10 for the sake of my nephew. He quit putting in the work and got passed for a roster spot at 12u. I cut him. Had a conversation with him and my bro/sis-in-law. They understood. Bad word for an uncle, maybe, but it was my job to make 12 kids better, not one.
Here we are talking about if one kid commits, will another leave or non-commit. What ever happened to competition? What ever happened to being confident in your craft or accepting a role to be on a great squad? The world we know it has come soft and I’m well aware, just complaining I guess, and wondering if anyone else feels the same way? Sorry for an odd rant, just hate that kids these days are so afraid of competition.
I don’t disagree with what you’re saying at all. I guess I just love that “prove you wrong/everyone else, never stop grinding and going to fight my way to the top mentality.” I know it’s not everyone and every situation. I just feel I see more of it now with the portal being the way it is, than ever. I’m sure every situation is different though.I don't think they are afraid of competition as much as they are looking for the absolute best situation for them to showcase their talents the most and best so they can make it to the NBA. Guys...
I just talked to my nephew's cousin's dad and he told me that it's Illinois...
I don't think these kids are inherently softer. They have newfound power (or more accurately lack of powerlessness) and flexibility and they're using it to try and protect their own interests in a way that previously wasn't possible. Of course, they're kids so the quality of their choices varies wildly and they're not generally good at sorting the good advice from the bad.Just bickering here, but something that eats at me about competition:

I think both (Grandison and Hutch) are great/valuable in role as player/mentors. They know the system and lived the culture. Same reason to love Trent and DW coming back last year.Given the commitments we have, and the other needs, I do not see either Hutch or Grandison returning. IL has already fulfilled its scholarship obligations to them. However, with NIL, there is a greater possibility of a player such as Grandison, Hutch or Lieb returning as a walkon, without Luther Head having to pay their tuition. This is actually an interesting possibility for Hutch given that not many high or even mid-major teams would risk a scholarship on him. Between loans and NIL he might wish to stay with a coaching staff that knows him (and where he might get some NIL interest) to prove he is past his injury troubles. He was a grad student this year, so he may just want to get on with his life - but if he wants any career as a basketball player, it would appear that he needs a full year of competitive basketball to establish himself as a viable player going forward.

I saw Pork and the Havana Ducks several times back in the day. I am not a country music fan but the "Pork Live!" album I bought in 1983 is still one of my all time favs and it always gets rave reviews when I introduce it to someone for the first time. RIP Pork.Pork and the Havava Ducks and the New Colony Six...
