I always wondered -- any relationship between the band and the central Illinois town that won the Class A state championship in 1978?

Actually Havana finished 2nd in both 1978 and 1979. I attended the Class A Elite Eight in Champaign both years. Nashville won in 1978. New Lenox Provindence in 1979. But back to your question, I think I read several years ago that Pork attended Havana HS. Not sure about that though.

Oh, man. Captain Rat and the Blind Rivets. The pride of Uni(versity) High in Urbana. Thanks to Mark Rubel. Who went on to co-produce Hoop Dreams. He was in my sister's class, I think 3 years ahead of me. I was class of '76 - we got to wear the red, white and blue Bicentennial tassles.
