A little more arc on his shot and he's gonna be really good from outside too.yes. he could very well be an all big ten player next year. anyone who says he isn't going to be good next year is crazy. kid just needed confidence which he got at the end of the year and look at what happened
Does anyone have any thoughts about Coleman Hawkins?
He isn’t a priority for Illinois@LvilleILL there was a UK article that claimed we were the favorite, along with DePaul and Providence. I’m guessing there might not be much validity to that, merely speculation.
Name checks out...lolKeep an eye on Louisville and Indiana for Bryce. Think we will at least kick the tires
So this has always been a question for me. How do college basketball recruiters keep all these plates spinning? I'm guessing they have targets and backup targets, but what if a backup target says sign me up while you are waiting for the target you really want.seems like the type of guy we could find a home for, but I basically view him as redundant to Murray and Shannon. I don't think we have a good chance at Murray, would we take both Shannon and Hopkins?
I think you lean Hopkins because he gives you more years, but Shannon is a proven talent. Will be interesting.
maybe we can have 10 page discussion on the pro's/con's of Hawkins game
If we didn't have Rodgers, things would be different. FWLIW, I'm ecstatic Rodgers is an Illini. He isn’t a priority for Illinois
I think it's simple. You roll the dice and try to finely calibrate your BS detector. So this has always been a question for me. How do college basketball recruiters keep all these plates spinning? P.S.- Asking for a friend named John G.
P.S.S.- Seriously though, I'm really curious how it is done.
probably a good thingHe isn’t a priority for Illinois
Shannon and Murray are shooting guards. Hopkins is a PF, could possibly be considered a "combo forward." I don't see them redundant at all. That makes sense. I suppose that if you are willing to make an offer on a kid, that means that anyone you offer you are prepared to have on your team. It's an incredibly complex puzzle and I appreciate the skills our recruiters are exhibiting.I think it's simple. You roll the dice and try to finely calibrate your BS detector.
We just saw it happen to us. We passed on Jeremy Fears to pursue Boswell. Then missed on Boswell. Now that staff could have been viewing it like me, I prefer Darrin Ames to Fears, so we actually had 2 guys we could wait on. Then we got lucky with Skyy almost falling into our lap, but that's the risk you have to take.
To me, I'd put Hopkins at the top of my list. He still looks soft at Kentucky. I'm wondering what his natural abilities could be after he got whipped into shape. However, to your point, if Shannon wants to commit now and Hopkins is telling us it's between you Louisville and Indiana, I'm accepting that Shannon commitment and not thinking twice about it.
He has 2 last names as first namesHe's a good player. He's also tall. And I like his hair.
If this turns out to be true, along with the Skyy talk, I'm thinking OA and Chin may be double agents.Apparently we’re the current leader according to Mr. Wright lol
Khalil Whitney, declared for the draft after a disappointing freshman season, now in the G League. With Bryce leaving, is this back-to-back Illinois guys to go there and kinda wash out? I’ve already forgot the other guy’s name, but he was another SF we heavily recruited.
I think they're all 2/3/4s in the style we want to play. That said, I think you are right Hopkins probably doesn't have the quickness to have the 2 on his card and would be more of a 3/4.Shannon and Murray are shooting guards.
