If he thinks Skyy isn't a day 1 starter then Epps for sure isn't.
Either Skyy or Epps could start as FR. Maybe it's not ideal to have a FR Point Guard, but by the end of the season, they could be good. Especially if they have good pieces around them.

It seems with Skyy, a lot depends on his knee.

Williams was never the answer, IMO. Would've liked to have seen better numbers from someone coming out of the American. Defensively he was great, but with these guards... he would've been lucky to see 15 mpg.

Side note: Nijel Pack loved his visit to Purdue. Expect an announcement soon. Purdue will get a big piece back after losing a TON

Well ideally they’d go out and get a point from the portal. Neither guy is a program changing talent but to me Skyy’s ACL seems to have really affected him defensively where he was already pretty mediocre to begin with. I don’t think he can guard starting guards very well at all.

Problem is will the guards be ok with a 20 minutes a game role….it’s why Williams went to Iowa st
Would TSJ really only get 20 minutes a game if he came here? I feel like with Williams he was a pure 1, TSJ could play the 2-4 with his size and we know BU doesn't mind putting people his size at the 4.

Edit: or were you talking about Ramey

If that's the plan....why not... give maximum effort while in...knowing the next 5 would be doing the same....if this fruitates we could compete well with 2 teams by mid season.

Yup, he was referring to Ramey

That’s fine. They wanted him cause he was a top 5 on ball defender in college basketball in terms of points per possession and one of the top PGs in transition.
Skyy is not going to replace Trent defensively nor is Epps.

Easier to sell that to players already on team rather than to transfers looking for a landing spot. Also easier when you’ve had success with that approach, which Illini haven’t. In fact, of late BU has employed much more of a “haves and have nots” approach to playing time rather than a rotating shift mentality. If you’re a player with pro aspirations and looking for a situation with more playing time, do you want to risk a year of your amateur window at a place where there are that many question marks?

Love to see Epps supporting this considering skyy is his main competition for the ball
These guys want to win and lets not forget that Skyy is more than capable of playing the two at times. Injuries happen as you know and you need interchangeable parts. These guys need to support each other and they will. TEAM is the most important thing here.
