And the amazing thing is this................Kofi still has a chance to outscore Petey on 3-pointers, both in terms of percentage and shots made.
Lol. I read someone at LSU charted every shot and if they'd had 3 pointers back then he'd have made 12 a game and his ppg average would have gone up to 57. And btw he set that record in just 3 years because back then freshmen couldn't play varsity!

Consider this scenario and respond, I'm curious:
After considering his options, Curbelo withdraws from the portal and decides he would like to return to Illinois.

Considering the current recruits and potential transfers, does coach / team / Loyalty want him back?
I just want Belo to do well whenever he ends up. I will root for him.

Clearly that won’t be back at Illinois.

A few months ago, I thought there'd be no way Kofi comes back. I laughed out loud recently when Brad Sturdy said on a podcast that Kofi could easily make $1 million. I just didn't think boosters/Guardians would come up with that kind of money.

But if that's accurate and I'm advising Kofi, the choice is clear. Come back to school, earn that money, get your degree, break some Illinois records, slim up a bit with Fletch if that's the plan, and go out an even bigger Illini legend that he already is.

Just afraid I am going to go into domino withdrawal if I have to wait up to a week for Kofi to make a decision. :ROFLMAO:
Illinois has one of the richest alumni base in the country…..and I’m not just talking about Jerry and Shad

Probably not, aside from transferring to Donda Academy last fall he also just transferred to Lebron’s AAU in California from Mac Irvin. His recruitment has been pretty mellow so far. Kentucky was once thought to be the favorites but I believe they deprioritized Taylor so no team is thought to be a favorite right now.
What about Bryce Hopkins, Kentucky freshman who has entered the transfer portal. Do we have interest in him?

With the number of engineering, comp sci, and business/finance/accounting grads, plus sheer numbers of alums, it only makes sense that we would.

According to either Ked or Sturdy, (forgot which) Hopkins has interest in us, but our interest depends on the dominos that fall in the next week or so. A bit unfortunate for him because he could have had a big role this past season imo, had he come here first.

Sounds like we want TSJ more than Hopkins. I remembered we wanted Hopkins back to his high school days. Am I wrong?

Bryce is welcome to be a preferred walk-on.

HS kids are learning that an Illini offer is a perishable commodity. If you don't take it they will use it on somebody else and you may not get a second chance.

Bryce seems to still have untapped potential. In any year before, we would probably take him in a heartbeat. But if Kofi stays, it makes sense to go with TSJ because experiences are probably important for the tourney. Too bad he won’t walk on and might join DePaul. We should probably tell him, “You are welcome to join us once you change your mind at DePaul.”

Maybe Anthony can pay Bryce's way...

Do we know if it was only AC's decision to leave? There is a chance that this was mutual right? I don't remember what the Insiders said about this at the time but I do remember one of them saying he was benched in the tourney for an unfortunate exchange that happened with staff at halftime.

Either way I really don't care. I think we could be so much better next year then this year. Having bigger guards that can get to the rim is gonna make such a huge difference for us. They are young so who knows but 2023 is gonna be a great year if not 2022.
Why is it that other schools can have freshmen guards, do well, but Illini can't?
