Is anybody else not stoked about potentially adding Ramey? I haven't watched Texas much but from what I've seen he hasn't really stuck out, stats aren't great, and the thing that sticks in my mind is this incident with his teammate (not like Texas fans are sticking up for him in the comments either). I know he battles and is passionate but he seems like a wild card personality to bring into the mix.

I want to know more about Jarod Lucas from Oregon State. 38.6% 3pt and 87.1% FT make me happy.

No indication that Illini are interested, but I ran across this name because Oregon State has reached out to him.

Rudi Williams:; 6-2 guard from Coastal Carolina, who I believe would be a grad transfer. Averaged 14.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 3.2 apg this year. Even better is that he shot 50.9% overall and 44.7 from 3. Also had 1.5 spg and only 1.5 fouls per game in about 30mpg. He had 19 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists in CC’s upset over South Carolina and 30, 10 and 2 in win over 23-9 Winthrop. Since entering portal Butler, South Carolina, Wichita State, BYU, Georgia, Florida, UCF, Memphis, Oregon State, Cal, Georgetown and San Francisco have reached out.

As an Oregon State fan, here is what I posted about him on April 5 in a previous recruiting thread. The beginning addresses OP’s concern about taking player from 3-win team.

I wouldn’t be too concerned about the 3-win season. Beavers dealt with a lot of injuries as well as lost time by players because of Covid. They played a good portion of at least the last third of the season with only 6-7 healthy scholarship players. I think Lucas averaged 33 mpg and there were some games he barely if ever left the floor because of above issue. With his skill set (and deficiencies) he should really only be averaging about 22-25 mpg.

All that said, the big issue I have with Lucas is he is strictly a spot-up, 3-point specialist — or should be. So was Plummer, but he also had some success going to the hoop. Lucas barely shot better from the field overall than he did from 3. I also read that he refused to go back into a game late near the end of the season. Not sure of the circumstances (or if accurate — read on fan board I frequent) as with being in eastern time zone and Beavs sucking so bad, I didn’t watch as many of their games as normal and did not see the game in question. It does seem a bit out of character for him (coach’s son and all) and never heard of prior issues, but Tinkle kind of lost the team this year, so who knows.

No offense, but this is the same line of reasoning that a lot of companies use to underpay people. IMO, if I work hard and it’s not good enough for the place where I currently work, I’ll look for another place where my hard work will be appreciated more. That’s what Podz is doing here. He’s only got 4 years of college basketball. He’s gotta look out for himself. I wish him the best of luck.
Tell that to JCL!

I like this. Davante Jones (Michigan PG) came from there and averaged similar stats. Definitely wouldn’t mind having someone like him on the team.

Next year was good opportunity for Podz with Andre leaving , Trent DaMonte Jacob Alphonso graduating

Basically competing with three freshman Skyy Jayden and Sencire for playing time.

With exception of LSU I don't know where he would have better chance to play unless he goes down to mid major.

Mitch Arnold (Effingham) left after one year and average 9 ppg at Fresno State. If he had stayed at Illinois I think he would have had the ability to do the same.
The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

Podz is not a primary ball handler and all the kids coming in are better ball handlers than him too.
