I’m just saying it was Levi that turned the tide with the Public League and Illinois basketball regarding Chicago recruiting. Eddie was a much better player, but the recruitment of Levi made it ok for Chicago Recruits to go to Illinois. Eddie didn’t do that. Eddie was a better player and played on better teams, but Eddie didn’t have the effect on changing the perception of Illinois Basketball like Levi Cobb and Audie Matthews
I'm with you on that! He was the guy who opened the door.

12:01 AM would be the optimal time to announce. Just get it out of the way early so I'm not just sitting and waiting for a Twitter alert.

But, who remembers Levi, other than die-hard (and old) Illini fans? Debatable whether Eddie goes to UI or not (although I'd say Yates and Collins had more to do with recruiting Chicago than Levi). But, what's not debatable is Eddie was the big-name player that put UI back on the map. Remember his epic showdown with Magic which should have moved us to number one in the nation after we beat them? Unfortunately, the following Saturday OSU upset us. Eddie started us back to a household name.

With the money projected he'll make here, I don't see any way he doesn't come back.

Audie went to Bloom Trail. I don’t think that’s public league. That’s why I credit Levi with the big shift. My memory could be a little hazy, I can’t remember if Audie played for Coach Henson or got there shortly before Henson arrived. Audie was a big deal too as a recruit, but not quite as big as Levi at the time. Levi was the game changer.
I think Audie started with Bartow and finished with Henson.
