Only possible "blue blood" team in the Big Ten is Indiana, and I don't think even they qualify. Kentucky, UNC, Kansas, Duke, and UCLA. That's it IMO.

As much as I think coach K is an arrogant self rightous person who had no problem letting others like Nike (Zion) do his dirty work his 6 titles is only surpassed by John Wooden's 10. The only recent names I would have confidence in saying never paid a player are Bob Knight and maybe Jay Wright.

remind me how Illinois did in NCAA in 2022 being OLD?
Remind me of the teams in the sweet 16 this past year with the level of experience we're bringing into next season.

If this is what we bring to the year, I'll be excited but I'll anticipate lots of bumps. Experience matters, no matter how much you want to dismiss it.

I believe UCLA used to be the blue blood but not one now. They won one championship in the last 47 years.

I mean… this team sorely needs proven players at the college level. Our most experienced returning player is Coleman. That isn’t a recipe for success. I get that youth is exciting but age wins. As BU says “get old and stay old”. I don’t see how we have any momentum either. If anything we faded down the stretch and bowed out of the tourney rather weakly.
The team needs more talent and depth. Experienced talent would be nice, but I'll take talent. We absolutely need at least one more guard and a stud PF/C would be nice. Would love to get the Reid kid leaving LSU, but that might be asking a bit much.

I loved Kofi, DaMonte, Jacob and Alphonso but it felt in many games last season they had hit their ceilings.

Nobody knows how good next years team will be but there is a lot of athletic potential

RJ- slasher, run the floor
Luke - bombs away from three
Skyy - 5 star scoring machine
Epps - 4 star scoring machine
Dain - Beautiful footwork, mid range shooter
Coleman - relax and use the size and first step to take the ball all the way to the hoop

Maybe it was different for you, but as a fellow former college athlete nobody was dangling 6 figures worth of cash in my face/offering jobs to family members etc etc. My "camp" probably would have been a lot more entrenched in my college decision if that was the case.
It was over 40 years ago but I was going to the school I wanted regardless LOL.

Thank God we beat Chattanooga. I was there for a week wearing my Illini gear and I commanded respect because of our dominant victory. I was on their campus and didn’t even know it. My girlfriend was like, “You realize we just drove through the heart of the Mocs’ campus, right?”

Blue Blood is about history, not just the last decade or two. Illinois is the 16th winningest program in NCAA history. Michigan is not even in the top 50.
This might be how you and others define Blue Blood — and who knows, it might be correct technically. But it is not the definition that these kids use. No one — the traditionalists who use the definition you use and today’s players/recruits — would consider Temple a Blue Blood, but they’re pretty high up on that list. To most recruits and players today, Michigan is a Blue Blood based on their success noted by other posters. You, me and others might not agree, but for recruiting purposes they are to these kids.

So much for knowing what our roster will look like next year by the end of the week
April 24, 12pm is still the deadline for players to withdraw from the NBA draft. After that day and time, the crystal ball should be less murky, at least. And I suspect the dominoes will start to fall.

Great. Now I want pizza.

Maybe. The infamous Dave Bliss was a Knight assistant from 1971 to 1975. Those IU teams were loaded with future NBA players.

Well we missed on Murray, Jones, VT guard, it appears TSJ. If guys have to pull out by the 24th then maybe we will at least have some other opportunities. I am curious to see who they may be .
