Here’s what I want to know…

WHY do we have to be the ones to change how WE play based on the other team?

Play big? Play small? We need to be the ones to change others to adjust to us.

Do we know if BU and Hawkins have met since that Hawkins interview? I’m assuming yes and that it went well given what insiders are saying.

Kedric Prince said they did and that it went well per the most recent free Illini Guys podcast 🤷‍♂️

What day did Kedric say this, because he also said this...

It has not become official yet, but there is talk of Coleman Hawkins leaving the program as well. This would be a tough one to replace given his upside, and his 6-foot-10 frame and perimeter skills.

Typical large media laziness on full display in these "polls."
Eh, I don't think it's crazy that we're not ranked at this point. Look at our lineup from an outsider's perspective

1. Skyy - talented freshman, but coming off knee surgery
2. TSJ - known commodity, probably considered our best player at this point
3. RJ - played in 22 games averaging 9 mins
4. Hawkins - averaged 6 points in 19 mins
5. DD - 6 career points
Goode - 56 career points
Epps - #82 rsci currently
Ty - #54 rsci currently
Harris - #95 rsci currently

If you listen to the eye on college basketball podcast Gary Parrish actually takes it pretty seriously, but he can't know each team the way fans like us do. I'm really excited about this group, especially once all the portal stuff finalizes, but that comes from watching every minute of Coleman, Goode and RJ plus highlights of the freshmen. The team will get every chance to prove they belong and writers will acknowledge it when they do.

Is this recent, if so, his knee looks pretty good? Who are these people he is working out with, are they paid trainers, or just people he knows playing in someones garage? (Seriously I don't know how all this stuff works)? When can he get on campus and start working with Fletch and Illini coaches?
I can recognize some of the kids he's playing with - they're other 5 star recruits that go to the same high school as him: Monteverde Academy

You're right. I would not expect a neutral observer to have us ranked. We, like all fan bases, tend to overrate our guys. We project results given the most favorable possibilities for every kid on the roster.

I do think this team will be fun to watch and improve as the year goes on. If we can pick up a quality PF/C in the portal, I think we'll have a pretty high ceiling and be dangerous by end of season.

Totally agree with this and can't wait. I'll just have to remind myself to be patient 😂

Never understood the level of hand-wringing about his knee. He's been playing on it for months now and the tear happened over a year ago. A year and a half removed from an ACL tear in this day and age is more than enough time needed to get back to 100%.

I'd LOVE to see Nance be that guy.
