It’s been confirmed by CBS that if we land Nance they will move us all the way up to #26 for our preseason ranking! Lol
That is hilarious.
Your funny!!! Two years ago we had better ball handlers than Skyy,Epps,Harris,Shannon and Rodgers????? If Ayo could do what Skyy can do with the ball off the dribble he would have been a high lottery pick! We have never had such an explosive player with the ball in his hands, and people quit trying to compare Epps to Feliz because Feliz was never a bucket getter like Epps!!! People sit back and enjoy the ride that these young men are going to take us on.
"We have never had such an explosive player with the ball in his hands." My guess is you never saw Derek Harper play.

It wouldn't be Loyalty if we're weren't hyping a kid who never played a college game over a guy who had his jersey retired in the NBA... Clearly you shouldn't go to the internet to find takes with perspective..

Clark and Epps first two frosh PG’s since Dee and Deron. Doesn’t mean they develop equivalently but look to be similar at this point. Team has more “potential” NBA players than any team since 88-89 but raw talent does not equal success. It may take some time to mesh and we can only guess at which players will find those roles. One or two will probably be a surprise to us and maybe the coaching staff. It will be fun to watch but frustrating to us at times.

You're drinking too much kool-aid. None of those guys have proven anything at this level yet except Shannon. Two years ago, Curbelo was known as the top true point guard recruit in the country, Ayo had multiple triple doubles(because he was a playmaker with the ball in his hands), I heard the same thing about Frazier as Epps coming out of high school. You really don't know how these guys will transition. People are acting like this is the '05 Illini. I'm hopeful, but some of these comments are out of touch with reality right now.

From Fan Sided GBM Wolverine site,
"the Wolverines might struggle to land some of the top players on this list if the likes of Duke, Kentucky, and Illinois are involved.

That’s why I didn’t even include Pete Nance Jr., who, if he returns to college, seems headed for Illinois."
scUM finally giving us our due credit, Illini ARE one of the big dogs now!

I know that we are still on the outside looking in at the bluebloods, but it is amazing that at least one from another fanbase puts us in already.

Seems there's some scuttlebutt that Nance has already turned down NIL money from Illinois. Is that a sign he's not interested in the Beloved? Or was he completely focused on the NBA Draft and now is listening to offers? (Also, I love using the word "scuttlebutt".)

Curbelo couldn't shoot it well. That said there are few that can handle the ball like he did. He could handle the ball as well as anyone. He can get anywhere he wanted with the ball. If Skyy ends up being better at PG than Belo it won't be because he dribbles and can get where he wants to on the floor better but due to other areas of his game. Belo was awesome as a freshman. I hope Skyy can be too Trent could also handle the ball very well. As far as Rodgers and TSJ being as good Ayo and Miller that's just not the case either. Ayo has better handles the TSJ and AM than Rodgers. Just because Belo left that doesn't mean he suddenly can't handle the ball. If Belo hand stayed we likely don't land Skyy. It's hard to imagine anyone being a better dribbler than Belo is. That was never his issue. It was his poor shooting last year. I do feel had he not gotten hurt he would still be here. Belo was Freshman of the year and I will be fired up if Skyy can do that.

I am excited about these new guys and hope we addd Nance but new doesn't mean they are always better. Especially initially. Things usually take some time.
There is so much more that goes into being PG than dribbling. Since Belo didn't shoot it well defenders backed off and kept him from making good passes (thus limited his assists this year) and ultimately led to high turnovers.

Nothing breeds success like success. BU and staff have seriously primed the Illini pump at this point. Completely jacked, not only for the coming season, but for the ones that follow.
Building what we have today from how it looked in his first two years, with wholesale changes to the lineup, strategy, game plans has demonstrated he is the architect of that success.

Something Weber (I love the guy by the way) could never do.

Again, how quickly we forget how well he played the end of his freshman season. The man had vertigo for months and tried to play thru it. He was projected ahead of Kofi in this year's draft for a reason. He had covid, was concussed, and he had an ongoing battle most if season with vertigo that he tried to play anyway. I get he had an awful sophomore season in large part due to that but if you expect him to not improve after how he played late last season. I don't know what to tell you. Having vertigo sucks. Belo can work his way back and be an NBA player. No one can stop him from getting to the hoop even if they do back off. I wish him the best.

It is also the other teams making adjustments.
