Congrats to our 2x All-American on realizing his dream of making the NBA! Not the way he wanted to enter the league I’m sure, but he’s going to make an impact once he’s there. His touch is a lot better than folks give him credit for.

Either way, 2 Illini in the NBA in two years and more to come! Such a fun time to be a fan of the orange and blue

For those that don't pay ultra close attention the CBA

An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary NBA contract. The deal has a particular Exhibit 10 attached to it and no bonuses come along with it. This attachment is included in the contract after both the sides (team and the player) have agreed to it.

An Exhibit 10 contract gives a franchise the flexibility to convert it into a two-way deal, but the team has to ensure that it happens before the commencement of the regular season. Exhibit 10 deals are usually non-guaranteed, which means the team can waive the player and get the cap hit off their payroll.

If a player is on an Exhibit 10 contract with a particular team, it would allow him to participate in that franchise's training camp. The team will control that player's G League rights, and he is eligible to get $50,000 if he manages to spend 60+ days with the G-League affiliate. Signing a basketball athlete to an Exhibit 10 contract works out well for NBA teams, who hold the option to cut them or include them in the roster if they play well.

An Exhibit 10 contract also works out well for a player trying to get into the NBA. This kind of deal gives him a chance to impress the franchise and become a part of the roster. NBA is a tough league to be a part of considering the roster size of teams and talent depth the game of basketball possesses, and an Exhibit 10 contract offers athletes a very lucrative option to prove their worth.

There you go, King. I am honestly pretty surprised that he didn't find a two-way. Knowledgeable people had me convinced. He is an incredible learner, though. If he can get there, he will.

Felt unbelievably wrong watching players that Kofi flat out would and did dominate get drafted one after another. Yet the National and Big Ten player of the year candidate goes undrafted. Who averaged a double double. 🤔 Make it make sense. Go be great KING KOFI! I-L-L

Projected low first rounder. Bulls took him for insurance now and as a guy later who has great upside but needs a lot of work, starting with muscle strength. Passing, transition, and defending are strengths. Really gets into passing lanes with his length. I think Bulls don't want another collapse down the stretch from injury and fatigue.
Vecenie had him at 17.

NBA "minimum" is 995k...if that's what he gets, probably explains his choice to pass up NIL.

He'll only get that if he doesn't get waived, or if they don't convert it to a two-way deal. One of those two outcomes are what happens to almost all Exhibit 10 players. In practice, an Exhibit 10 contract is basically a training camp invite.

This is a great opportunity for Kofi to show what he can do in a longer form. I still believe he will end up with a 2 way deal at some point. But either way he will be playing professional basketball for a long time, which is what he wants to do. It may include some NBA time if he can improve his game and find the right fit. If not, he will still make a VG salary playing the game he loves. Good for him.

Kofi has a good chance in that Jazz organization, especially if Rudy gets traded to the Bulls. The Jazz will be a fun team if Kofi was on the roster.

For those that watched the mock drafts closer than me, was there anyone in particular who had a good handle on things and is worth following in the future?

NBA front offices don't look at Kofi the same way we do. Yeah he was a great college player. But there have been a lot of great college players that haven't amounted to anything in the NBA.

What is even the point of saying this? Nobody is saying Kofi is able to matchup well with Jokic. Almost nobody matches up well with Jokic. This horse is beat dude. Let it die.

We had someone on here saying that Kofi would dominate 85% of current NBA centers. Which is such an unbelievably bad take. A lot of people on here need to look at Kofi from a realist not idealist point of view. I'm not doubting that he's a great player. But he has such massive deficiencies that it would take a lot of commitment from an NBA franchise for him to stick.

No he got snubbed. I hope he proves the doubters wrong.

Not how I read what he said. And actually it's not much commitment at all from an NBA franchise, they can cut him loose whenever they want, the commitment is all on Kofi who I trust will get it done.

We bring in winners, and let them develop to becoming great off the court and on. Underwood has proved that. How Kofi got passed on, is well baffling. To the GM‘s like with Ayo last year. Learn the game or you won’t be holding that position for long.
