This is where I'm at. We can kick and scream about the good ol' days or we can accept that things change and work to make sure that our position within that changing ecosystem is as strong as possible.

What would be great is if the Big Ten can crush the SEC and what remains of the rest of the major conferences, expand into all the P5/P6 schools, and divide them up into subgroups. Let's call them "leagues" for lack of a better word. And each "league" can be more or less geographical and incorporate traditional rivalries and play a league championship at the end of the season, after which there can be some kind of national post-season where the best team from each league can compete for the overall Big Ten/national championship. That would be cool.

As long as they keep calling it the Big Ten then I am fine with that.

I guess this seems to be the way that the conference realignment is going (mega-conference, adapt or die) but the purist in me really doesn't like this at all. It seems like having Rutgers, Maryland, and Penn State in the same conference as USC and UCLA makes zero sense, let alone the travel would be absolutely brutal (think I saw someone mention the Big Ten should just buy an airline). Shoot, let's just grab Oregon too and really make traveling a cluster.

USC? Ugh, they're all the things I hate about NU/Mich, on steroids. And they immediately become the least ethical school in the BIG.
For football, it's now a new Big 2 - USC and OSU.

Why limit our search to the Pac-12 for more schools? Clemson, Florida St., Kansas, Arizona, USC, and UCLA and call it a day.

ACC is off limits for a looooong time, but when the time comes, I expect us to be very, very selective. Much more so than before this PAC assimilation. The only automatic is NC.

Have the following schools from the PAC 12:

West Division (all AAU schools):

USC
UCLA
Stanford
California
Oregon
Washington
Utah
Arizona

The Central Division is:

Illinois
Northwestern
Iowa
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Nebraska
Kansas
Notre Dame

The East Division

Michigan
Michigan St.
Ohio St.
Penn St.
Maryland
Indiana
Purdue
Pittsburgh

Atlantic Division

Duke
North Carolina
Clemson
Virginia
Georgia Tech
Virginia Tech
FSU
Rutgers

Have each division winner play a qualify for a conference playoff.

Play each team in your division and then play the corresponding same place team in the other divisions from the following year. Two non-conference games.

The Nebraska thing is going to sting more than ever. Maybe the rest of the conference can pool some resources and buy them some research facilities or something.
