Stanford Cal Oregon Washington. I think that has to be it.
I see everyone mentioning these 4 but with the two SoCal schools already coming in, I wonder if it wouldn't make more sense to focus expansion on major markets in other states. The Bay area is a great market but it's not like it's completely dovorced from SoCal. I'd expect BTN gets into that market already with USC and UCLA. Maybe target states/markets where we have zero footprint like Arizona, Florida (FSU/Miami), Texas (Tech? Houston?), maybe Boston College.

Let go of Rutgers and Maryland and give me Missouri and Pitt instead.

So this is all heading to an eventual new semi-pro-college-NIL-based B1G and SEC that operates outside the NCAA for football and basketball? Does the NCAA eventually become the Collegiate Olympic Sport Association?

As long as we're dreaming big .... New "Death Star" BIG ... not divisions, just travel pods for scheduling (all AAU members, save ND). Can you imagine the basketball schedule?

1. UCLA, USC, UO, UWASH, STAN, CAL, AZ
2. UTAH, COL, NEB, MINN, KAN, IOWA, UW
3. IND, ILL, NW, ND, OSU, UM, MSU
4. PSU, RUT, MD, UNC, DUKE, GA TECH, UVA

There aren't going to be dilutive adds. Your scenario has sporting appeal, but it's not happening.

Why not go for Washington, Oregon, Stanford and ND? The B1G would have most of ND long time rivals and would guarantee them a seat at the table when the dust settles.

It will simply be the B1G.

2 awesome brands, will have a great impact on other sports outside of basketball/football as well. Hopefully a few more come. Im in the minority, but I want KU.

Since I live in the Puget Sound area, I'm all for UDub... but as a long time B1G fan, totally against the Domers.... NO Notre Dame ! ! !

Phoenix is much more closely tied to ASU (though tons of Arizona fans still live there) but ASU is a less desirable school for the conference, IMO.
Not sure why. It's on par with U of A academically these days, and has a much larger alumni base (and is a better football school). :)

As primarily a college basketball fan, I'd love KU. But this is 99.9% about college football tv rights, so it's not gonna happen.

None of this nonsense has to happen if USC would stop playing night games. Then they'd get trophy consideration from east coast snobs.
And change just for change's sake is not all that much a good thing.
I want to hear Josh and BB be giddy about what a fantastic deal this is for everyone.
Bear in mind that USC comes to South Bend before November. You think they want to be here when the weather turns bleak?

they won’t have a choice
while not an officially announced done deal
it’s a done deal .

One must assume that the professional decision makers at USC and UCLA calculated that there is a high probability, if not certainty, that once they announced this move, the key programs on their coast would follow suit and join them. Those California schools don’t care if they never play Washington State or Utah ever again. But they’re going to want an October and November schedule full of their nearby traditional rivals. Everyone will want that. Ratings and money flow will demand it. But those schools can’t walk out for the press conference and say “oh BTW wink wink Stanford and Cal and some other friends will be coming along too.”

It still gets pretty cold in Oregon and Washington.

what happens to the Rose Bowl ?
Tear it down.

I'd guess "nothing" since the B1G/PAC tie-ins aren't rock solid anymore. Years where one or both teams wasn't from the B1G or PAC (due to playoffs and Natty's, mostly)

2021

Texas and Florida are two huge prizes, but the SEC already beat the BIG to UT and A&M. I don't think BIG would be interested in a non-premiere school in that state. I think Miami and FSU could be pried from the ACC, but neither of them have the academic cachet of AAU membership.

We added Nebraska. ... And I do think it would have enormous academic (how univ presidents think) and financial appeal (the TV markets and BIG alums in those areas are significant) ... But you're right, it's not happening at that scale ... that's why I called it "dreaming" in the first place. But mark my words, at least 2 other PAC schools are coming to the BIG after this.
