Is there any interest in Jaheem Webber from Normal? 6'10" per his Dad. They are disappointed that there has been zero communication from the Illini.

I've seen some clips and to me, he looks good. It is hard to project big men that are only 16 or 17 years old as they are frequently a bit awkward with their size. But he looks like he's moving better than in the older clips I saw of him.

There's also a 2024 big in the public league (maybe at Kenwood) that looks like he has a ton of potential, and I've seen that he's interested in IL.

Edit: Jaden Smith at Kenwood

It’s possible that kid from normal is really good, and we’re just in on better players.

Look how we’re recruiting right now.
I think next season is going to be an experiment to see how big our big has to be In the future.
Maybe Flying Illini big, probably not Kofi big
BTW, big is not the same as tall which is not the same as long. We live in a three dimensional world.

Until we see which way the wind blows, I think Brad will hold big man schollies pretty close to his orange vest

By the time of some posts in the conference realignment thread you'd think we should just stop recruiting because college athletics are going away.

I'm glad to see BU missed that memo.

Thomas Haugh's OV to FL was June 27/28, and he committed June 29, as a 2023.

Amani Hansberry (2023), however, feels in no hurry and is taking his time. He has used 4 of his allotted 5 OV's. They were PSU (3-24-22), VA Tech (5-11-22), BC (6-23-22), and most recently IL.

The question that looms concerns the final OV, if he decides to use it. Back on 6-8-22, he was reported to say he has three more upcoming OV's. That would indicate he has a final one still to go. Could be Pitt or MD (has had unofficial visits there), NC State, or TN.

Do not want another Boswell result.

I’ve reached a strangely zen state regarding recruiting these days. We weren’t able to seal the deal with Boswell, but within a few weeks we had Skyy. Our coaches have been pulling rabbits out of the hat all summer. I’m not overly concerned about next year’s class. BU, TF, TA, & GA know how to find guys. Based on their interest, I’m pretty confident that Mr. Hansberry is going to be much better than his current ranking. That said, if a 100 something prospect doesn’t want to play here, I’m pretty sure we won’t get stuck with scraps.
