I can't wait for football season to start! (damn it feels so refreshing to say that again)
Haven't followed our QB situation that closely this offseason but I do look forward to seeing us getting the Tight Ends involved more.

Let's go ILLINI!! :hailtotheorange: :chief:

Do we have any insiders that have any news from practice so far? (i.e. have there been any surprises on either side of the field so far? Which freshman has looked the best so far? etc.)
Also does anyone have any good websites with daily practice reports, etc?
Thank you in advance.

I don’t know why, but when I rewatch Devito throw during the spring game I get the feeling he’s going to have the best year for an Illini QB in a looonngg time. It was second team D sure, but he has something to his game we haven’t seen at that position for a while. I know they are saying Art has a chance and he did okay last year, but Devito has a rip it style I don’t think we’ve seen for a while.

Count me in the ILL going bowling this year camp (if Devito stays healthy). Just a hunch.

^ God, I hope you’re right! If we can get decent QB play, this could really be a momentum-building year for this program. We were in almost every game last year and scored two huge upsets on the road … getting to a bowl or even winning 7 games is not unrealistic, and it might just “turn the corner” with changing the culture here!

Oh absolutely. We literally gave away a number of games last season due to poor qb play alone (vs Purdue & vs Iowa ) I am cautiously optimistic that we'll be improved this season and keep building back into what would be a solid football program.

What I noticed is that he seems to have a quick release and good arm strength. What I'm unsure of is if he has the ability to look off defenders. We'll see, but I'm hopeful he will prove to be an upgrade at the qb position.

We always need two good qb's for a season. I still would like to see Minshaw, Johns and Leary get some reps. You never know throughout the year what might happen.

Alright, time for predictions:

Which Illini player will have the most receiving yards this season?

You might need to start with another position that won't have 99% of the people with the same answer lol. Its Isaiah barring an injury
How about: Will the defense have more interception and fumble recovery return yards than the offense has receiving yards?
