Wyoming coach stirring the pot already...

"Bohl said his counterpart, Bret Bielema, even mispronounced the name of the Illini’s opponent recently.

“It was interesting, and I will show this to our players, sometimes you do lay in the weeds,” Bohl said. “The University of Illinois coach made a statement that they are playing Week 0 and they’re opening up against Wy-ami. And I went, ‘Wy-ami?’

“He said it, it’s going to go up on the bulletin boards, and football is not too far away.”

JFC, that's laughably lame.

If that happens..
Yup it would bar is set very, very low. Heres hoping Lunney boost give the offense a Walter ish level boost and get us to 240/250 yards passing a game.
250 yards passing per game and we'll have a winning season and a solid bowl invitation. With our running backs, that would be one heck of an offensive performance in year 1 of the Lunney Jr. regime.

Honestly, I'll be happiest with comp% around 65. The rest of the stats will sort themselves out.

Looked back to last yr, BP-53%, AS-50% completion. Literally a coin flip. How many times did we see open receivers but nothing catchable.

Yes, it's more complicated then just focusing on their individual performance, but cumulatively passing offense needs to be way more efficient this year.

Watched practice today….

It’s early yet but saw some good signs.

DeVito looked head and shoulders the best QB option. ( maybe due to Sitkowski’s injury) Brown and Williams are poised for big years.

Defense is ahead of the offense. Way more energy on the defensive side. There’s a new sense that someone wants kick a$$ or take someone’s bubble gum….. And the B10 is all out of bubble gum!!

We had ground and pound back in the day with some D. Results should be more entertaining and better once this thing gets a rolling.

For those that not remember, ticket stub to 95 game when we beat a real good East Carolina team 7-0 on 49 rushing attempts from Robert Holcombe. Seemed like the longest game I ever watched :ROFLMAO:

You think that was bad? The game the week before was a 9-7 win at home over #17 Arizona where the two Illini scores were on a FG and a fumble return for TD (with the extra point being missed).

Pretty sure I was there. I went to a majority of the games during my teenage years.

The D definitely kept them in games. Weird season and pretty sure they tied the last game of the season that year with Wisconsin like 3-3 or something LOL

who can ever forget him scoring 8 TD's in one game !

yea it was against SIU, but still , thats rare air
I'll never forget that - love Howard Griffith for it!! -- but will also not forget that game my freshman year, beating Colorado in the final seconds, beating Michigan State in the final seconds and storming the field, winning (AGAIN) at Ohio State...it all led up to a momumental showdown at home vs. freakin' Iowa at the height of the Bruce Pearl (deserved) hate

Anyway, if I knew now what I didn't know then (isn't there a Bob Seger song about this?) about Illini football, well....I would have thanked my lucky stars to be on campus at such a great point in Illini football history. It was so, so, so, so much fun at Memorial Stadium for those home games that year and on campus afteward up until of course freakin' Iowa

At the time, and now looking back on it 30-plus years later, that freshman home football schedule was about as much fun as you could ask for.

Robert Holcombe looked so gassed by the end of the game. Like he would get the ball, collapse across the pile for a gain of one or two.
