I know you know this, but Trent doesn’t qualify under any of the qualifications.HANG TRENT'S JERSEY
Ummmmm…. Derek Harper, Frank Williams, the best of the bunch.Skyy will have more of an impact as any incoming PG freshman than anyone since......Bruce, Kiwane, Demetri, Dee, Deron, etc
Where is Trent these days? Anybody knows? For some reason as I was reading this, a name popped into my head- Trent flipping Frazier.
I'm so excited to see Skyy but, man, Trent's impact on this program was absolutely huge and hopefully will never be forgotten. He and DMW were the glue that tied things together, bought in 110%, and led by example and now look where we are

Maybe name a team award after him-I know you know this, but Trent doesn’t qualify under any of the qualifications.
He was good but the rafters are for the great.
I understand the “qualifications”, but greatness isn’t always defined by THOSE qualifications.I know you know this, but Trent doesn’t qualify under any of the qualifications.

The Matto/Frazier Award...?Maybe name a team award after him-
The Trent Frazier size of the fight in the dog award?
With the portal era upon us, I don't think you'll see many more "Trent's" and what he meant to and sacrificed for the program.HANG TRENT'S JERSEY
Strange to have only 1 loss and end up in 5th place unless it's based on total points scored or something else.France just beat Italy, finished with one loss and 5th place. Thought they were the most talented team in tourny. Perrin averaged 14 pts. for tourny, best prospect on team might be Cissoko who is going straight to G league and projected 1st rounder next year.
I see Perrin in rotation until proven otherwise. Possibly to give Coleman and Dainja a breather at the 4/5 spot.

Thanks, just remembered that. Anyway, Perrin should be an elite addition to an already elite team. They lost in the quarters (on a very late 3).

Love the 18 boards....shows he has some legitimate instincts for where the ball will bounce as well as the confidence and strength to hold onto the ball when 2 or 3 other guys are trying to dislodge or grab it. Shows me a lot of good things.14 points, 18 boards for Perrin: https://www.fiba.basketball/europe/u18/2022/game/0708/France-Italy#tab=boxscore
Moretti had a forgettable game.
Bet they were all just lucky Mike Davis reboundsLove the 18 boards....shows he has some legitimate instincts for where the ball will bounce as well as the confidence and strength to hold onto the ball when 2 or 3 other guys are trying to dislodge or grab it. Shows me a lot of good things.
Listen, Trent is an all time favorite of mine, but he is not an all time great. Yes, he was here for five seasons which added to his stats, but until Ayo and Kofi came along, the team was pretty bad. He was here for the good seasons as a complementary player. He was very streaky on offense but his defense always played. I went to Kansas City and Trent was 0 for the tourney (0-19 actually). All time greats do not do that.I understand the “qualifications”, but greatness isn’t always defined by THOSE qualifications.
I understand where you are coming from and largely agree with your POV. And yes, we never want anyone to go 0-19. But Ayo and Kofi also had some lackluster performances under the brightest of lights, and they had a better supporting cast around them. Trent had many games and big shots where he looked like an AA.He was very streaky on offense but his defense always played. I went to Kansas City and Trent was 0 for the tourney (0-19 actually). All time greats do not do that.
Again, I’m a huge fan of Trent’s, but the rafters are for the stars. That’s why Ayo and Kofi will be there.
Not to quibble, especially since I’m a great Combes fan and his storied historical perspective. I don’t argue he was great by the stated required standards, my sensitivities were arroused when you said he wasn’t great. Period. He was great as a program embassador, great as leader, great holding the program together during tough times, great showing others what toughness was when injured, and most importantly I don’t argue argue he should be in the rafters. I just choose to remember him as “great”Listen, Trent is an all time favorite of mine, but he is not an all time great. You could go through each decade and find a player like him, a tough, gritty fighter who helped his team win. Matt Heldman was one and there is an award named after him even if he is not good enough for the rafters. I agree that maybe an award could be named after Trent, however if Kiwane Garris, the second leading scorer in Illinois history and a better player than Trent is not in the rafters, then neither should Trent.
