Maybe it's me, but I think this backdrop is really poorly executed. Go ahead and stand in the middle, completely covering the Jordan logo and the name of the school. Also can be messed up by weather and the position of the sun. Plus 30 barely different shoes? Meh.

Is Joliet West a basketball factory? That is where he was attending high school when Illini were recruiting him. He just recently moved to Overtime Elite, so that was not a factor one way or another. Also, I thought at the time when we “pulled back,” it was that he was a shortish guard who didn’t shoot particularly. I also disagree with your premise that Illini aren’t in a position to turn down a 4-star player. If he’s not a good fit, we’re actually in the position that we don’t need to take a top 50 player just because he’s highly rated.
Uhhh, no he has been at La Lumiere for a couple years now. That's where he was at when we were recruiting him and I'd say it is a basketball factory.

I just told you Underwood didn’t want him because he is a below average shooter that he didn’t feel we needed with the current roster
I disagree with that completely. If somebody like Fears wants to commit, especially with a talented younger brother a couple years away, you take him. It's the whole promising a certain role that would be a hangup. He has plenty of intangibles and connections to want him on your team. There is a reason he is #40 in the country.

Not sure what you are disagreeing with here....BU decided he wouldn't take him and he commited elsewhere.... also it seems like it has had no effect on younger Fears....you seem to be the only person bothered......I don't get it...

I’ll make sure to tell Brad you disagreed with his decision.

This is why. People claim that the baggage is why we didn't want Fears. That's fine if they believe that. Then we don't need to talk about Jeremiah because he has the same dad who is just as involved.

(1) recruiting is comically complicated, it's very difficult to find the right pieces year-after-year. It's hard enough when you're Kentucky or Duke and have right-of-first-refusal for many recruits.

(2) Underwood has done an incredible job with recruiting and deserves a lot of slack. I'm especially harsh on coaches being given the benefit of the doubt on here because years of people telling me to trust Weber, Zook, Beckman, Lovie, etc. As of right now, there's no defense for doubting Underwood's personnel decisions.

(3) Like I said before, I am especially intrigued about this Fears scenario of their family possibly feeling some scorn over the older brother's recruitment but still letting Illinois have a chance with the younger brother. I'm doubting it concludes with him coming to Illinois but to even be in the running speaks volumes about the coaching staff and the Fears family for mending fences.
