Someone mentioned how long it has been since we have played in Bloomington, and it got me thinking just how LITTLE we get to play "traditional rivals" who are now in the East. These are our meetings with Indiana by year since we added divisions...

2022 - Illinois at Indiana
2021 - N/A
2020 - N/A
2019 - N/A
2018 - N/A
2017 - Indiana 24, Illinois 14 (Champaign, IL)
2016 - N/A
2015 - N/A
2014 - N/A
2013 - Indiana 52, Illinois 35 (Bloomington, IN)
2012 - Indiana 31, Illinois 17 (Champaign, IL
2011 - #19 Illinois 41, Indiana 20 (Bloomington, IN)

And for fun, the five matchups before that:

2010 - Illinois 43, Indiana 13 (Champaign, IL)
2009 - Indiana 27, Illinois 14 (Bloomington, IN) ... GOD, this was a disappointing season!
2008 - Illinois 55, Indiana 13 (Champaign, IL)
2007 - Illinois 27, Indiana 14 (Bloomington, IN)
2006 - Indiana 34, Illinois 32 (Champaign, IL) ... our fourth one-possession loss that season

The risk now is that we have a superstar RB with a very checkered injury history and a lack of quality depth behind him. McCray's ability to keep Chase Brown fresh may have been his greatest attribute.

And Brown, Hayden and Love are all kinda-sorta similar backs physically and stylistically.

Tough situation, but we do have a lot of bodies at that position and it's time for someone to step up.

If Illinois beats Indiana, Bielema will be the first Illinois coach with a .500 or better overall and/or conference record after 5 games since Tepper in '94. Turner - Zook - Beckman - Cubit - Lovie never got to .500.

If Illinois beats Indiana, Bielema will have more conference wins than Beckman in his three seasons coaching at Illinois.

I love BB's pressers .................................I love BU's pressers .............................Don't know if I've ever felt so excited about the big revenue coaches in FB and BB as I do right now...........Both of our coaches are intelligent , knowledgable and seem like so down to earth , lets grab a beer and talk shop type of guys .....

Would love to achieve a better than .500 season record in FB this year and see it morph into a team competitive for division titles in the future....

I just listened to IU Head Coach's, Tom Allen, press conference. He really gives me Tim Beckman feels.. the way he speaks. Does anyone else here that? Hopefully he'll coach like him and we run away Friday.

Beckman's struggles in the press conference mattered because he sucked as a coach. If he would have went 23-14 in his three seasons we would have had 15+ posters on here with usernames and photos of lasagna. The real concern is how many people would have picked up Skoal as a new habit...

Interesting that Coach Allen will be calling Indiana's defensive plays (about 22:00 mark of his interview). That's something we experienced at Illinois fairly recently and we all know how that turned out.

He sort of sounds like Beckman, but he does pronounce "Illinois" correctly. (Beckman used to call the state "Ahllinois" which was really annoying.
