And the Brewers have a 7 game road trip out west to Colorado and Arizona. Those trips are always tricky. We have a good chance to push the lead to 8 games by the time the Brewers come to STL for a 2 game series. And that's where we can give them the knockout punch.
I like your way of thinking....................Cardinals have a tough uphill path to get to the WS , but their never say die attitude gives me pause to truly write them off in the playoffs..............As we all know , anything can happen in the playoffs and with TON getting hot and Albert's run to the 700 Club , anything's possible ................it really really is...............

Albert can't add to his list with tonight's starter. From a quick search, it appears he's 3 for 8 all-time against Justin Dunn (all from 2020 when Dunn was pitching for SEA) with a double and a home run.

He was hitting .156 when he hit his HR in 2020, so here's hoping for #695 tonight!

Jim Hayes with a great interview with Zack Thompson , asking good questions about his increase in velo and the rigors of being on the STL - Memphis shuttle.....

LETS GO CARDINALS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was a little off. He went 3 for 8 in games started by Justin Dunn, but was 1 for 4 with a home run facing him.

reds with a whopping attendance tonight of , it looks to me , like 4-5 K......

Generous strike zone given to reds pitcher......Hope it bodes well for Hudson , as he needs all the help he can get........Walks will determine Hudson's fate for the future .............JMHO

And of course he walks the first reds batter...........lol

Arenado with another dazzling play on a grounder that hit the 3rd base bag .......I think Donovan was off the bag at second....lol

Ump was generous for us also.....

TOM-MY ED-MAN
TOM-MY ED-MAN

Thought he was off too, until I saw that last replay and I think he kept it on.

My gut is telling me that De Jong and Hudson's names will be floated in the off season as far as trade bait .........De Jong for sure , and if Flaherty can ever stay healthy before he bolts to the Dodgers , then Hudson will be wearing another teams uni...................JMHO

Goldie is in a rough stretch for him right now.......

Need to start a "" buttinsky meter "" for Jimmy Ball Game...............................His median butting in during a agme is 20 +....JMHO

Looks like they’re back to the follow-up a big offensive night with a dud.

Also, thinking of the near future. If we can make the World Series, please not Toronto.

Cardinals lose to the reds 5-1 tonight .......Next game is tomorrow @ 5:40 pm CDT............\
brewers up on pirates 2-1 at home in the bottom of the 4th .....................

Dud of a game except for Edman's homer and Woodford excellent 3 + innings of relief.........I would set Woodford up to replace Hudson's next scheduled start......

Oh well , maybe Quintana can give us a quality start tomorrow.......Time to go watch a movie with NL # 3 and enjoy our new Bose soundbar......it is excellent ....
it really really is ......................

Just to say there is a typo there, 10th, not 110th career offensive WAR.

Also...

OP% Career 10th

Slugging Career 14th

OPS+ Career 10th

How in the H E Double Hockey sticks did it take 5 votes to get into the Hall of Fame?!?

CINCINNATI — The Cardinals’ offense, one of the most robust in baseball over the past month, has spent August extinguishing uncertainties about its depth, its looks, its leadoff spot and its dexterity beyond the twin powers of Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado.
One serene night along the Ohio River with so few ripples on the scoreboard isn’t going to resurface questions.
The same cannot be said for Dakota Hudson.
Less than a week after his assertive start against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field, Hudson couldn’t complete the fifth inning and spent most of his start swarmed by base hits. The Cincinnati Reds rapped nine of them against the right-hander on their way to a 5-1 victory Tuesday night at Great American Ball Park. A four-run third inning against Hudson (7-7) overwhelmed the Cardinals’ brief lead provided by Tommy Edman’s solo homer, and the Cardinals offense did little from there.

A night after facing eight different Reds pitchers, the Cardinals struggled to muster four hits against five Reds pitchers, only one of whom they saw the night before.
Five of Hudson’s past six starts have been five or fewer innings, and though he had a quicker pace to Tuesday’s outing, that only seemed to accelerate the Reds offense. Where that leaves Hudson as the Cardinals look to rewrite their rotation in the coming weeks will be clearer as Jack Flaherty arrives Monday.
