except our last three weekend games are on the road at IU, OSU, and Purdue. If we're anywhere close to the top of the standings those will be wild crazy crowds. I almost wonder if in giving us an overall good schedule they screwed us on the dates.I seriously wonder if they don't put some "big matchups" on the week on purpose because they know they'll pull good ratings no matter what. Illinois/Indiana is going to have great ratings any day of the week ... passionate and large fan bases that expect good years. Meanwhile, you might be able to turn Iowa/Wisconsin into a ratings win on a Saturday where it might deliver subpar numbers Thursday night.
As usual, TV ruins everything as far as game days and game times.
Nice to see you posting again , my friend..............see y'all there

Ummmm I’ve never been an international freshman division 1 basketball player before but I’m assuming he will have plenty to do on campus until DecemberWhat is he going to be doing until January?
I’ll just leave this here…Can we get back to discussing Taylor Rooks? Wow
I have the same question. Is this an Official Visit? Unofficial Visit? Is he already an online student? Is he able to still add live classes this late in the semester? Is he able to do anything with the team if he is not yet a student? Can he receive any (including financial) assistance from the university at this point? Enroll at Parkland? What is he going to be doing until January?
A department heads signature used to be enough to let you enroll a few weeks late. If Perrin is a decent student and has been doing the class work remotely in preparation, it should not be a big deal.I have the same question. Is this an Official Visit? Unofficial Visit? They gotta guard our nimble bigs with perimeter games too. It will be a battle for us inside and a battle for them outside.Teams like that, with powerful big men, scare me this year.
The Illini were a team with a Powerful big man for the last three years, and we struggled against teams that look like the 2022-23 Illini. They gotta guard our nimble bigs with perimeter games too. It will be a battle for us inside and a battle for them outside.
At some points here and there we’ll be able to trade 2s for 3s directly in those matchups. At other points if our guys can penetrate and create, we’ll probably have kick out opportunities when help defense is required, and we can trade some 2s for 3s that way as well.
If help defense doesn’t come when our bigs create vs their slow guys, then we should be trading 2s for 2s and all is even. Then it becomes the guards/wings game like we all know college basketball is, and I love our guards/wings.

Being undersized at the 1-3 was more of the cause of the struggle, unfair to put Kofi out as the cause of that. The Illini were a team with a Powerful big man for the last three years, and we struggled against teams that look like the 2022-23 Illini.
Having length at all positions, means help can come from anywhere and we will have 3-4 guys effectively crashing the glass. I certainly wasn't saying Kofi was the cause of us struggling against teams that had length and athleticism all over the place, simply that you don't need a dominant big man to beat a team that has one.Being undersized at the 1-3 was more of the cause of the struggle, unfair to put Kofi out as the cause of that.
I’ll just leave this here…

I told a friend here in Tucson the other day that, in a lot of ways, '22-'23 Illinois looks like '21-'22 Arizona: lots of roster turnover, including several mainstays; lots of highly regarded long athletes and tall guards; and no idea how well they will all mesh and play as a team. The Illini were a team with a Powerful big man for the last three years, and we struggled against teams that look like the 2022-23 Illini.
Yea I totally agree....I think Brad has assembly the type of team that he's envisioned for the past few years....alot of 6-6 to 6-10 athletic guys that can run the floor, shoot reasonably well from the perimeter and guard multiple positions. A lot of talent and a lot of flexibility....It's been assembled a little differently than in the past with the portal and mid-season transfers as well as recruiting the HS ranks....the only thing that remains to be seen is just how quickly this teams meshes into a bonfide contender for championship(s)I told a friend here in Tucson the other day that, in a lot of ways, '22-'23 Illinois looks like '21-'22 Arizona: lots of roster turnover, including several mainstays; lots of highly regarded long athletes and tall guards; and no idea how well they will all mesh and play as a team.
