So at 5 games in and 60 fewer points scored on us than per betting lines, we are averaging 12 points fewer (almost two fewer touchdowns) scored on us per game than what was expected. That is an incredible stat. What a testament to our growth this year as a team, and the value Ryan Walters brings to this team. It really seems like so many players are maximizing their potential on this team now. What an exciting time to be an Illini fan.

I've enjoyed the discussions back and forth about ticket prices, and find it interesting that perhaps we set at at $75 originally to make money off the Iowa fans who figured they would be coming to watch another easy Hawkeye win. If that's the case, glad to see we did it because it's really depressing to see these home games with so many of our rival fans having so much fun at our expense. I'm so ready to be done with that.

Now that the tables have turned, count me in as the group that's about to buy four tickets to bring the family there and watch Illinois finally end this dreadful streak. I was there in 1990 for the thrilling MSU win that Altged brought up earlier and remember rushing the field, but even worse are the memories a few weeks later of Nick Bell, Hayden Fry and Iowa absoutely crushing us on top of what Bruce Pearl and their basketball program was doing to us at the same time - just cemented forever my hatred of Iowa which will NEVER change.

Just me, but i'd rather pay $75 to see a huge game like this than $20 or whatever to see a cupcake or whatever earlier in the season. These are the games you'll remember (hopefully) for decades and decades to come

And those complaining about DIA, it seems to me like they have offered plenty of affordable family packs for games and done their part to try to make a price point to get more fans to show up through the years. To me, getting fans in the seats all comes down to winning, and that's exactly what Underwood has done and now Bielema is doing and that's what I'm going to throw my $$ support behind. Let's go - it's the Illini's time to shine and I'll be there to support it with my attendance, with my voice and with my wallet.

So a lot of discussion about ticket price for Iowa game, but let’s get to the important issue. How big of a crowd do you think we’ll have?
I'm saying 50K. My excitement to attend a game is a good bellwether of the attitude of the local populace and I plan to be there.

I'm hoping enough fans and a great performance for an electric atmosphere. Nothing beats that.

That would be a very respectable crowd. According to ESPN, announced attendance was 37k for Chattanooga with the free tickets given away, and for Wisconsin last year it was 40k. So a bump to 50k would be good. Keep winning and hopefully that number keeps going up.

Hey everyone, longtime Illini fan here, but been to far many more basketball games than football. Wife and I hare headed down Saturday morning and we're looking for some good areas to tailgate and hang out. Any spots, places or any help would be greatly appreciated. Just want to have a great time and little getaway with the wife and watch an Illini win!

Sorry if this isn't the right spot for this question.

In regards to ticket prices, I think we've become a little too comfortable with cheap tickets over the years and seem to think it's the norm. Not sure how many college games you all attend outside of Illinois, but $75 is pretty cheap. I went to ND for grad school and my ND vs Clemson ticket for Nov 5th was $150 face value and I'm up in the rafters. Cheapest tickets for Iowa at OSU are $115 resale right now. Cheapest for Northwestern at Iowa is $55 and for Wisconsin at Iowa it's $75. Wisconsin at MSU next weekend cheapest is $60.

Not saying it's fun to pay that much, but it's pretty normal.

Good question. As of last Friday, the ticket office was selling parking in lots 46 and 47 (grass lots) which is west of the baseball field. Face value is $20. They are also selling spots in Research Park, which I believe could be either asphalt or grass. I think it will be an energized day and you’ll have a good time tailgating wherever. I’d just recommend having your parking spot prepaid and get there early.
I looked at Stubhub and currently there is not a lot of parking for sale in the season ticket lots.
BEAT IOWA!!!

Okay, I will check that out ASAP. Do I only need one ticket since we will be in one vehicle?

I get all the arguments for $75 being reasonable. Still, until we start having proper sized crowds, the worst seat in the house can't be that expensive. I've sat up in the balcony a few times. Its not ideal up there. $50 for the worst seats in the stadium is perfectly reasonable when we are trying to get butts in the seats. I got my single ticket to the Illinois @ Michigan game for less than $50...

Listen, I love Illinois football. I went to 90% of games when I was a student. I have followed the team to Iowa City and gone to the Soldier Field games. If I didn't have family obligations at home I would have season tickets and come down every weekend. That being said, parts of Memorial Stadium are not comfortable places to watch a game, and there is nothing special about what you are getting for concessions. Robert's described 30,000 that will always be willing to drop $75 to get in the door. But we are trying to bring back the people who gave up for 10 years. Give them a deal that they cannot say no to. Once we have 50k coming to a game and the team is rocking, then drive up the price. But for now, you need to just get people in the dang door.

What to do about this weekend? I don't know. It might be too late. Just don't be stunned when the crowd isn't as big as we would all hope for it to be. I hope I have to eat these words, but I'm expecting around 40k.

It’s a huge increase, but I think we need to be pushing 55k. We need to do everything possible to make that happen … last weekend could serve as our “coming out party” as a football team, but this week is our chance to shine as football FANS.

If BB is going to really build a program here, a good atmosphere at Memorial Stadium will need to be a bedrock. We’ve rightfully been skeptical of this program and asked them to “prove it to us.” Well, regardless of how good/bad Wisconsin really is, this team DID prove it to us in historic fashion last weekend!!

I unfortunately (fortunately!) will be across the sea in Scotland for this one, but I’ll do my part to tune in on our iPad at what I believe will be after midnight! 😂🔶🔷

For real, though … this is a chance to show that we aren’t going to be (only) a “basketball school” going forward. The (20)20s belong to the Illini!!

I hope DIA wants your kids at the game, watching them play the best football they've played in over a decade, in front of a full stadium that's loud on a Saturday night. That's how you get more fans that want to keep coming back.
After spending the weekend in Madison, watching UW/PSU volleyball Friday and the beloved Saturday, Wisconsin does a GREAT job of celebrating the kids. The volleyball players high fived a bunch of kids surrounding the court, prior to the game. Kids were constantly featured during timeouts on big screen. It was very family friendly. I think that they get it, creating the next generation of fans.

DIA has to do something with ticket prices to get butts in seats. Just looked at KU’s ticket prices for their next game. Plenty of sections to get tickets between $40-50. Our cheapest ticket for Iowa is $75. No reason for that price any season until we are consistently good, let alone to be set before this season.
Our ticket prices are horrible, until administration learns that poor turn outs. Inflation, gas, overall the average fan will not show up to spend 200-300 for 2 people. That's a fact.

We don't do the same thing? Just figured this would be a given, and disappointing if we aren't, especially as long as we've been good in volleyball.

Totally get that, but consider the program hosting those games. Ones with years of sustained success and a crowd who will likely still show up because it is part of the culture. Illinois still has to do that. 2007 was a great example. There was some buzz coming off of 4 horrible years, and horseshoe season tickets were $77(!). That got the place filled up from the get-go.

Going forward, ticket prices will be on a sliding scale based on your income level per your tax returns. To purchase a ticket, you will need to submit Form-4506 to allow the DIA to get access to your income levels from your tax returns. If you are a student, file an exemption using the puce colored form. If you believe your income will be different this year from last, file the chartreuse form. If you did not submit a tax return last year, use the magenta form. If you think the government is secretly using your information for nefarious purposes, use the enclosed tin foil sleeve.

Was going to post the same thing. Compare us to Indiana and Purdue (maybe MSU, though they've had a lot more success than us lately).
