So at 5 games in and 60 fewer points scored on us than per betting lines, we are averaging 12 points fewer (almost two fewer touchdowns) scored on us per game than what was expected. That is an incredible stat. What a testament to our growth this year as a team, and the value Ryan Walters brings to this team. It really seems like so many players are maximizing their potential on this team now. What an exciting time to be an Illini fan.

I'm saying 50K. My excitement to attend a game is a good bellwether of the attitude of the local populace and I plan to be there. So a lot of discussion about ticket price for Iowa game, but let’s get to the important issue. How big of a crowd do you think we’ll have?
Another being 2007 against Michigan. We were the Saturday night ESPN game called by Musburger and Herbstreit. Is 2011 vs. #22 ranked ASU, under the lights too far back? That's the last one I remember, anyway.
That would be a very respectable crowd. According to ESPN, announced attendance was 37k for Chattanooga with the free tickets given away, and for Wisconsin last year it was 40k. So a bump to 50k would be good. Keep winning and hopefully that number keeps going up.I'm saying 50K. I'm hoping enough fans and a great performance for an electric atmosphere. Nothing beats that.
Good question. As of last Friday, the ticket office was selling parking in lots 46 and 47 (grass lots) which is west of the baseball field. Face value is $20. They are also selling spots in Research Park, which I believe could be either asphalt or grass. I think it will be an energized day and you’ll have a good time tailgating wherever. I’d just recommend having your parking spot prepaid and get there early.Hey everyone, longtime Illini fan here, but been to far many more basketball games than football. Wife and I hare headed down Saturday morning and we're looking for some good areas to tailgate and hang out. Any spots, places or any help would be greatly appreciated. Just want to have a great time and little getaway with the wife and watch an Illini win!
Sorry if this isn't the right spot for this question.
Okay, I will check that out ASAP. Do I only need one ticket since we will be in one vehicle?Good question. I looked at Stubhub and currently there is not a lot of parking for sale in the season ticket lots.
BEAT IOWA!!!
Yes, and I made a mistake lots 46 and 47 are East of the baseball field.Okay, I will check that out ASAP. Do I only need one ticket since we will be in one vehicle?
It’s a huge increase, but I think we need to be pushing 55k. We need to do everything possible to make that happen … last weekend could serve as our “coming out party” as a football team, but this week is our chance to shine as football FANS.That would be a very respectable crowd. According to ESPN, announced attendance was 37k for Chattanooga with the free tickets given away, and for Wisconsin last year it was 40k. So a bump to 50k would be good. After spending the weekend in Madison, watching UW/PSU volleyball Friday and the beloved Saturday, Wisconsin does a GREAT job of celebrating the kids. The volleyball players high fived a bunch of kids surrounding the court, prior to the game. Kids were constantly featured during timeouts on big screen. It was very family friendly. I think that they get it, creating the next generation of fans.I hope DIA wants your kids at the game, watching them play the best football they've played in over a decade, in front of a full stadium that's loud on a Saturday night. That's how you get more fans that want to keep coming back.
Our ticket prices are horrible, until administration learns that poor turn outs. Inflation, gas, overall the average fan will not show up to spend 200-300 for 2 people. That's a fact.DIA has to do something with ticket prices to get butts in seats. Just looked at KU’s ticket prices for their next game. Plenty of sections to get tickets between $40-50. Our cheapest ticket for Iowa is $75. No reason for that price any season until we are consistently good, let alone to be set before this season.
We don't do the same thing? Just figured this would be a given, and disappointing if we aren't, especially as long as we've been good in volleyball. After spending the weekend in Madison, watching UW/PSU volleyball Friday and the beloved Saturday, Wisconsin does a GREAT job of celebrating the kids. Totally get that, but consider the program hosting those games. Ones with years of sustained success and a crowd who will likely still show up because it is part of the culture. Illinois still has to do that. 2007 was a great example. There was some buzz coming off of 4 horrible years, and horseshoe season tickets were $77(!). That got the place filled up from the get-go.In regards to ticket prices, I think we've become a little too comfortable with cheap tickets over the years and seem to think it's the norm. Not sure how many college games you all attend outside of Illinois, but $75 is pretty cheap. I went to ND for grad school and my ND vs Clemson ticket for Nov 5th was $150 face value and I'm up in the rafters. Cheapest tickets for Iowa at OSU are $115 resale right now. Cheapest for Northwestern at Iowa is $55 and for Wisconsin at Iowa it's $75. Wisconsin at MSU next weekend cheapest is $60.
Not saying it's fun to pay that much, but it's pretty normal.
Was going to post the same thing. Compare us to Indiana and Purdue (maybe MSU, though they've had a lot more success than us lately).Totally get that, but consider the program hosting those games.
